Beaver Kits 2024 First Sights

This is always the time I look forward to - the first appearance of this year's kits in light.
They spend their first weeks in the lodge before venturing out. I have seen them in the dark by the lodge using IR and Thermal vision, so I knew there were 3. Just a few days ago, I saw one at dusk then 3 at dawn. It's such a privilege to see them in their early days, watching them play and learn.
At the moment they keep close to the lodge but will start venturing further out into their habitat.
Just like kids, they have a voracious appetite. Their favourite food is willow twigs, luckily their habitat is full of it. They are not able to chew bark off branches yet. The Mother does supply them with food but they are doing some foraging for themselves.
Spain's Hall does guided Dawn and Dusk hide watches. Check out the website for details. The people I have guided for, have had tremendous views recently. It's also a chance to see the habitat.
