That's when I realized Beck was a step above the rest, it came out of nowhere, nothing he did previous hinted at the heartbreak and loneliness of that album. Right up there with Derek and the Dominos ,Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs in breakup albums.

I think thats Jellyfish's Roger Manning Jr (keyboards) and Jason Falkner (bass) as part of the band. Loved Jellyfish. Loved Jellyfish .... criminal they made just 2 albums.

100% agree. If you look at an album like Midnight Vultures alongside an album like Sea Change, it doesn't really even make sense. Then you realize Beck is just such a bad mfer that he can play slowjam acoustic ballads or Dust Brothers' produced funk and always sound like himself. He's that authentic.
