I love how fearless Beck is when he makes music. This man has music for every music taste out there

When he introduced himself to the music industry there was nothing like him. We had all the grunge sound and snoop dog was just barely making his mark! Tu pac was rapping so hip-hop and gangster rap was popular. Beastie boys were still fresh. So here comes Beck! A New sound in between all of these other artists. I was like shit! This is cool. I'm a musician so I took a huge step back! And just breathed in som fresh new air of music.

Since my first listen, this song evoked scenes in my mind of highway driving/commuting on a rainy night with bright, blurry lights flashing by...and that dreary, alienating feeling of neverending repetition that accompanies such drives. Maybe partly thanks to the car on the album cover with Beck blinded by lights, and partly due to the slur of Beck's mechanical auto(tuned), mumble-rap vocals. Driving or riding in a car while arguing with a partner via Bluetooth or pondering a failing relationship, perhaps. Somehow the song makes complete sense to me with those visuals. And that contrast of dark lyrics against bright tunes - or vice versa - is classic Beck. In a strange way I can see parallels with the melancholy beauty of Sea Change.
