#ESEE4LIFE haha Props to the ESEE team, you guys are really active this year! I love all the new products and the ESEE forum! I was wondering is there a resource that documents RAT's history? I know about the TAK knife and the TOPS connection, then Ontario and the break up. It's all a little hazy for me now, I wanted to make a ESEE History video if I can get all the information.

EsKabar BK14 is my favorite knife of all time. Especially since I carry it everyday on my belt. Handle is perfect. Blade size is perfect. I wish they came out with different blade profiles. I'd buy them all.
@BushcraftDave4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, it’s my fav necker too. I want to get TKC scales for it but they cost more then the knife!
@klausb17584 жыл бұрын
@@BushcraftDave I just bought the cheap plastic ones. Work good enough for me. I ordered another BK14 recently to strip the coating and patina it. Would like to figure out a way to make wooden handles for it as well. Will be a nice little project.
@BushcraftDave4 жыл бұрын
Great idea! Wood handles you can make to fit your hands perfectly. Yeah I’m still using the cheap ones and they work fine 👍

Thank you brother! I love the story and Ethan Becker so much I had to get the story out. I plan on doing more reviews of the Becker knives I have and pay homage to Uncle Ethan.

Very cool story Dave on how the EsKabar came to life. In a previous review that you did comparing the BK14 and the Izula you had be sold that I believe told you about my EsKabar purchase. Matter of fact just this past Sunday I modded my EsKabar and placed pics on your Facebook post from about a month ago comparing the EsKabar and the Izula. Please take a look Dave, and tell me what you think. Thanks for your video and for your recommendations. As always ATB and thanks again Mike!!

Hey Mike that one slipped past me. I'm embarrassed to admit it but I really don't know how to use Facebook lol. I'm trying to get better at it. I love the patina you put on it and the black scales! Handsome looking blade, looks like Darth Vader's EDC lol

why did they get rid f the bk24 and it's not a neck knife it's to big the Ka-Bar snake charmer is a neck knife but the bk14 is just a small knife great for the pack and the trail I tek-lok my bk24 to the shoulder strap for a quick draw
@BushcraftDave6 жыл бұрын
I agree the blade length is that of a small knife, but because of the heavily skeletonized handle the weight is only 3oz so neck carrying it is easy but the sheath is bigger and heavier than it should be for neck carry but is very useful with a tek lock like how you carry it👍. I need a Kydex sheath for it. I’m so bummed I didn’t get the bk24. Like you I love this knife for hikes thanks for interacting with me brother!

The only considerable improvement since, was when the BK24(D2) was made. An amazing knife in any configuration.

Hey Dave have a new sharpening compound that had developed last year and am ready to get it out to the world. Would you like to try it and review it? It is a rouge (iron oxide) based compound however while it polishes like rouge it also creates a micro serrated shark tooth edge that is totally not visible to the unmagnified eye. You can't even feel the serrations if you drag your finger nail on the edge however under a microscope you will see them. You can also see them if you use the strop to polish the side of the blade. Am going to make a quick video in a few days and then can send it to you. Review it good or bad we can take it LOL... When you see the video of slicing up already sliced newspaper it will be fun. Michael

I love seeing members of the community start making useful products! I’m not a knife sharpening expert at all, I use a Worksharp. I’m really honored that you’d consider me! Microscopic toothy edges are great 👍 Spydercos Serrata fixed blade uses cast 440 that create the same effect I think.

Hello Bushcraft Dave ! I like your videos about knives and i dont know what knife i should choose under 50/60$ please tell my one :)
@BushcraftDave6 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about the same question for a video! hahaha what a coincidence. Are you looking for a bushcraft knife or survival? For bushcraft get the MORA BLACK in carbon steel super sharp and tough ($35): amzn.to/2oWLNqY or the Condor Bushlore nice walnut handles with leather sheath($45): amzn.to/2tBbmmg For combat survival knife Ontario SP6 ($40): amzn.to/2FDnvvQ I've owned this one and it's super tough with great edge retention. Long clip point blade. I"ve batoned with the swedge and it's works, just had to replace the baton every once in a while. Great heat treat, can't find better at the price point. Ontario Spec Plus has lots of large knives that are under $60. Cold Steel SRK is good too and around 60 to 70. Becker BK16 is another one. So small knives go for the Mora Bushcraft Black carbon or Condor bushlore and for bigger blades go with anything from Ontario Spec Plus. Hope that helps! :)
