Our son has cp as well and I just thought I would mention looking into the dr browns compression bottles. The nicu told us about them. It is a bottle that gives him drinks when he bites down on the nipple. He doesn’t have to suck and it’s easier than the syringe and he can be more independent with it :)

As someone with CP and very tight muscles, I feel for him! Surgeries are always scary for the parents and little ones! Losing amazing doctors on a medical journey is really hard! I had the same ortho and neuro for 20 years, its hard to change! Hopefully little man gets a successful surgery and feels better quick! Side question, have you ever taken Little B in a hot tub, it feels so good!!

Waking up in the ICU after being on a ventilator (UK name for respirator) for over a week due to COVID, I've never appreciated water so much! I would drink a whole bottle in almost one go at a time! It must feel so good to Beckham to finally be able to enjoy drinking water.

You might think about adding a touch of thickener to Beckham s water . It's used for people who aspirate . It's sold over the counter at Walgreens ect. It may prompt him to be able to swallow more water easier. Just a thought you guys are amazing! I'm praying for sweet amazing Beckham ❤❤

Why not let him use the wheelchair to appointments. You can push if needed. But him having as much control as possible is best. If he can independently move himself around, then take advantage of it. You should be able to start retiring the stroller

Rachel just a hint to pass on to babysitter, when taking Blakley to park when giving her a lollipop she should have before the park or after the park because going down slides and jumping on things, swinging if she would fall she could accidentally have the ball end get suddenly be pushed into her throat or poked with the stick into some place in her face. Suckers are a sit down treat.

I hate saying things to people because sometimes you get lots of hate for it but my niece cut the inside of her mouth and needed stitch’s from the stick, I was not there, and so if I see unsafe things I will point out like kids with no helmets on bikes and scooters..Head injuries are the worst to come back from if you can.

Have you tried the thickener for drinks? I think you can get it thru your insurance but it basically just thickens the liquid so he won't get strangled so easy. I've seen others use it for oral issues and it seems to help..

Hi Rachel, did they say that Beckham has hip dysplasia by chance? I had surgery to correct hip dysplasia I'm both hips and it helped tremendously and it improved my gait, my mobility and range of motion. When you explain the way his hip is partially out of socket it made me curious if that was because of dysplasia Does cerebral palsy contribute to having hip problems? Lots of prayers to you and your family and that he gets pain relief from the surgery. ❤

There is a solution to the raw egg problem so that Blakely can enjoy the raw batter. My niece used to be allergic to eggs, but thankfully has now outgrown it. I'm in the UK, but my niece is in Texas. Even though she's over her egg allergy, I still like to send this solution so she & her siblings can enjoy raw batter safely. I send over what's called egg replacer powder. It's basically a product that is created for people with egg allergies for them to still be able to make cakes, cookies, etc. There's no egg in it, but it has the same effect on the batter as an egg would. I'm wondering if you could find that in the US. There must be some alternative over there for people who have egg allergies. But it would also have the bonus of making raw batter safe for kids to enjoy. Over here it's called egg replacer or egg replacement powder. You may be able to get it from cake making stores, the baking section at the grocery store, the free from section of the grocery store or stores specialising in products for people with allergies. That way, Blakely could enjoy dipping her fingers in the raw batter like kids can over here in the UK. Thankfully, our eggs are treated so that they're safe in raw batter.

I have CP dystonia and I get hungry quickly, but it is only as an adult that my doctor has talked about drinking protein drinks. So when i'm out and don't know when can get some food, I always have a protein drink in my bag. But Rachel did not know how long the doctors visit would take. It took me many years to remember to always have some food with me all the time
