Hello there and thanks for the very informative video. Just saw your comment below about having owned a toddler Tula and obviously the Beco toddler and I would like to ask you a few questions. I have been using a standard Ergo baby carrier with my 16 month old son and I absolutely love it (it feels very comfortable and the padding on the shoulder straps is so thick its heaven!). We are off to New Zealand for a month soon and was thinking of buying a toddler carrier for my 4 year old boy, that I can also use with the little one once he outgrows the Ergo. I have now tried both the Toddler Tula and the Beco Toddler and I have to admit I am not in love 100% with any of them. I find Tula's belt and thicker shoulder straps much more comfortable (although still not as comfortable as the even thicker ergo shoulder straps!) but since my 4 year old is very long and skinny, the Tula feels way too much wide throughout and he can easily move around inside the carrier A LOT even if I tighten the "perfect fit adjusters" to keep him closer! Is Tula better for chubbier babies???? Or it could possibly be my long and skinny 4 yo (6% weight and 98% height for his age). In terms of the Beco toddler, it feels much more superior quality and because is more marrow throughout my toddler feels much safer and closer to me. I thought that the waist buckle would bother me and dig into my back when i front carry but surprisingly that was not an issue. I seem to have to fiddle around quite a bit to get a right fit with the Beco and the straps I find a bit too short. Did you find that too? Although i have to admit it is much better when i undo the pfas to have that few extra centimetres in the straps but that also allows my toddler to be able to bend backwards more it seems. Love the fact that you can cross them and the non-padded end of the strap does not seem to dig into me. What it really annoys me though is the thickness of the straps. It is hardly padded (well compared to the Tula and definitely the Ergo at least!!!). I don't know if it was because I had the wrong adjustments but the straps seem to dig into the top of my shoulders and leave a red mark on my skin. Is this something that you have experienced? Am I doing something wrong adjustment wise? Very frustrated and indecisive right now as I really want to keep the Beco, which fits my son better but can't get over the lack of padding in the straps! Surely they have to be comfortable if I am going to carry around a 4+ year old for a few hours!!! Tula is comfortable for me but not a good fit for my son!!! If I could get the thickness from the Tula straps to the beco, it would make the perfect carrier : ( Please help/advise! TIA *sorry for very long comment!

I know this is an older video, but if you loosen the "perfect fit" adjusters towards the top of the panel, the padded part of the strap will be longer and might help with how uncomfortable the straps are in the crossed position.

You actually can unbuckle those buckles with one hand! Press the button and one of the prongs down at the same time, and then you can switch over and press the other prong. I've been doing it like that since I first had my Gemini, as I'm usually still holding my LO when I unbuckle... :)

I wanted to say thank for the vid. I recently bought a beco soleil and loved it so much I bought another one. i like it better than my lillebaby I always wanted a tula but I'm worried I won't like it as much do you like beco or tula better? also I have a 5month old that really big about 23lbs when should I get a toddler carrier? they're on sale now should I grab one now?

Oh you're welcome! You know, it's funny-- since I filmed this a year ago, I have bought and sold both a Toddler Tula and a Lillebaby Carry On, and I'm now LOVING the Beco Toddler again! I got one on sale on Amazon for $96. What a steal! You should be good with you Soleil for a while but if I were you, I'd go ahead and grab it on sale and put it away until your little one is big enough. Kids don't usually need a toddler carrier until they are AT LEAST in 2T pants. Then again, lots of kids in 2T pants still fit well in baby carriers, especially like the Beco Soleil. At the end of the day, I like my Beco Toddler better for several reasons, but I LOVE that I can cross the straps in the back if I'm doing a front carry. I pretty much only back carry now though since the "baby" in this video is 3 years old and about 32 lbs! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the great review. My daughter is 20 months and 30 lbs--we've been using the Ergo but lately she's been complaining that it hurts her where the lower edge cuts into her thighs. Do you think she would have a similar problem with this?

+Anne Pinckard I don't think that would be a problem because of the awesome leg-out padding in this carrier!

When I put my Beco Gemini at the front. I cross the strips at my back and lock on the other sides. Is it a different design for Beco Toddler?

hello, can a 6 month old be placed in this also?

No, a small baby like that would do better in the Beco Gemini or Beco Soleil. This carrier is for toddlers.
