I’ve been a member of AA living in recovery now for over 37 years. In our meetings after we close and join hands before we say the Lord’s Prayer, we all join hands and say this, We’ve been told the reason we join hands is to reminds us of the TRUTH we are no longer alone. This prayer goes out to the still suffering alcoholic in this room and out on the streets. So hold on to the hand next to you like your life depends on it because someday it may. It still hits me every time, and we end the our meeting saying, IT WORKS IF YOU WORK IT!!

The thought of having a group of people to connect with in a way where you confess your sins and talk openly about what hard things God is doing to grow us toward Him makes me want to find an AA meeting immediately! And I also pray for our churches to become a space for these kinds of relationships! ❤ Renewing of our minds! Glorifying Him! Guarding our thoughts so our foolish hearts aren’t darkened!!

Hearing that God is with me seeing what I see was a powerful reminder that I'm not the only one seeing the problem people in my life. He sees them -- and me -- exactly as they and I should be seen. So I need to think with the mind of Christ about myself as in need of adjustment and renovation and when I see others who need help, to remember that God is there and will do what I cannot, while encouraging me to do what I can.

Thinking a little this morning. Looking at myself from the inside, it's like I'm in a huge, dark forest full of who knows what dangerous beasts. When I look at myself from the outside, it's like I'm standing in a meadow, looking at the same forest but able to see trees in the sunlight. There could be dangerous beasts, but there are also deer and birds. It's not as dark and foreboding - not perfect, but not the thing of which nightmares are made. Now, if only I could see that forest through God's eyes, what a difference that might make.
