Martinsville in this game is my favorite track. On 100% with Unlimited tires and fuel turned off and cautions on, is chaotic and fun, especially coming off of a caution with lap cars beside you, going into the first turn is nerve racking, sometimes I’ll miss the turn, then on my way to correct it, I’ll accidentally spin the leader or lap car. Sometimes I’ll put someone into the barrels. Such a fun track, so many memories of just tearing up the field, while tearing my car up. Sure 05 and 07 Martinsville are fun, but are not as chaotic as 04. Also, going backwards on that track is really really fun, literally blocking the entire field.

i find this grudge against jeff gordon hilarious bc he is practically my childhood idol. i played almost every ea nascar game since 98 and used jeff gordon 99% of the time i had a choice of who to play. Seeing the amount of comedic spite with the 24 is the hilariously perfect ying to my yang when it comes to his player character.

I love Thunder 2004 and while it is the best console NASCAR game ever. It does have its issues. The caution glitch can be very frustrating, especially after you just pit. Really sucks. Thankfully they fixed that in 05. The damage on Normal is really buggy, I can accidentally run into the pack from last at any track on lap 1, and the car either has a really badly damaged car close to where it the engine could breakdown, or does breakdown. Thankfully they fixed that in 05. I don’t know if it’s an issue with the game engine or not, but it gets really frustrating when those two things happen.

Yes I am playing this on PC using PCSX2. It's way easier to record this way instead of using a capture card and dealing with delay, and you get to upscale it. Currently, my actual PS2 is starting to run into some disk drive issues which I probably should address soon.
