This was fun, Dominique! I remember when you first started at Channel 2 when I was in elementary school, and immediately thought, "I like her." 😁 Then when I was in junior high, my mom got us a tour of the station (I was thinking of going into broadcast journalism at the time) and you walked past us and you were just as nice and pretty in person! It's been fun watching you grow as a journalist and here on KZbin. I haven't lived in Houston for 12 years, but every time I visit family and watch you and Bill on the news, I know I'm home. I remember when you worked for Mix 96.5 and have adored your since. My daughter met you many years ago at The Jerry Lewis Telarhon. Y'all met in the ladies room, she was volunteering to earn service awards at our church during her senior year in High School. I agree. There always seems to be a defining moment. I had no idea what I wanted to do until I had my children. I couldn't learn enough or find enough information so I became an early childhood teacher. My daughter has struggled with finding her passion. She finally decided to shadow the local vet because she is passionate about helping animals. She spent 3 days with him and decide to change her major to pre-vet. She's nervous about all the classes but I told her "If you love it, you will find a way to overcome any obstacles."

Wow - you are such an inspirational woman Dominique and hearing "your" story was wonderful. Your delivery is amazing - yeah I get that's what you do for a living but it was so refreshing to hear someone impart so much without a single "like, ummm, well". I too worked at a Lancome counter where I was trying to figure out where I was heading next. I left the banking industry after 10 years and then was a flight attendant for the next 10 years, set up an international exclusive ladies spa that sadly ran me into the ground which si what happens when you work 80 hour weeks. I finally ended up in real estate which was a true calling for me until my husband dropped the bomb that he'd really like to work overseas. We were expatriates in Seoul Korea for 2 years (really tough place in 2001) especially when you have a newborn baby and then specifically Singapore where I helped set up and manage a retail operation for a friend offering homewares, bath and body products all from Australian lines. It was a huge success and my finest hour! We're back now in Australia and just we've built a brand new home, my only daughter is in her final year at high school and sadly I spend a lot of my time tending to my parents needs as they are both in care with advanced dementia. So I'm looking forward to what the next chapter in my life will bring but "thank you" for demonstrating that people can and have many careers in their lives at various times in their lives. The only thing stopping them is themselves. You've inspired me to think about the next page in Pam Wilson's book of her life. Funny thing is like you - makeup, skincare, health and fitness, wardrobe choices always take pride of place. Keep up the great work - you're the girlfriend we'd all love to hang out with!!

Thank you for this Dominique! I too believe in divine intervention and signs, and this literally fell in my lap today and was EXACTLY what I needed to hear to focus big-picture on my career path. God is so cool. I'm a mom of 3 and getting back into using my University of Tennessee broadcasting degree and building a non-profit called High Risk Hope which helps women on hospital bed rest due to high risk pregnancies and families with infants in the NICU. High Risk Hope is headquartered in Tampa, FL and now expanded to Orange County, CA where I live. Hopefully we will have a chapter in Houston one day too! Anyway, thank you for the inspiration! I am 73 and retired but I worked for a small TV station. I,loved my,work so much. We were,like a big family. We were very close. I,would not take anything for' my experience. I wondered who,you, were and what you did. You are such a wonderful and inspiring lady and so beautiful. I totally understand why your lovely mother is so proud of you. You re,imd. E of myself when I was younger. You are very versatile and so intelligent. It's your special personality that God gave you and I feel like I know you. I am so glad you shared your story and speaking about work and the ethics you learned from it. There is nothing wrong with working and feeling that self worth that doing something with your hands or mind has economic reward. I am Cuban and have been in this wonderful country arriving in Miami 1974 and starting to work at age 15 and education let my brother become a doctor and me a business professional working for top petroleum company. The legend goes that during one of our infamous floods, the regular news people couldn't make it to the station. They had to move Dominique from traffic to the news desk. She did such a great job that she never went back. Don't know how true that story is.

I only recently found you randomly on U-tube. Ever since, I've been glued to your channel. You are natural born teacher too. I love it when I find women who want to inspire and teach other women.
