As a former theater kid I love hearing about it. I'm all in for more videos! Acting and being in shows is one of my favorite things to do and I miss it dearly. So happy for all the support you have and cannot wait to see you on Broadway one day.

This video really resonates with me as well! Before i decided on theatre, I wanted to complete a gender studies degree and my mom never wavered in support but no matter what I picked, my dad was never satisfied. Even as (I feel anyway) I am thriving in my theatre major, my dad likes to talk about how much money I will make and the success rate but what he doesn't realize is that I am happy and I will live in a box as long as I still get to do what I love. Thanks for making this video! 💕

Thank you for making this! I'm a junior in high school and I want to be a theatre major and it's so hard right now, it's my busiest year and my parents are pressuring me with my grades and sat scores and my job and that makes it really difficult to keep up with my training and theatre (acting lessons, voice lessons, dance classes, rehearsals, college auditions). This is very encouraging, thank you again ❤

LOVED THIS VIDEO!!!! I’m currently a junior in high school and have been juggling between nursing and teaching and theatre to study in college. I have the grades, knowledge, and ability to pursue any of these careers, but I’ve loved theatre since I began classes in the seventh grade. My family is just like yours. They want me to pursue a career that is financially stable and help me pay back student loans. However, I want to pursue a career that makes me happy no matter what. Seven minutes into the video you said this “You know you are supposedly do something when the idea of not doing it brings you a great deal of pain.” It’s like you took the words right out of my mouth. That is exactly how I feel about studying theatre in college. I really hope your career in acting flourishes. Hope to see you on the big screen or Broadway one day!!!!!

How do I even begin to reply to this comment?? You are too kind, my friend. Thank you SO much for your lovely words. I am so glad that my story resonated with you and that you hopefully, fingers crossed, have gained more clarity in which path you would like to take in your life. Parents are hard. I remember when I was eleven I told my mom I wanted to be a lawyer (it was I because I had just watched Legally Blonde for the first time) and she got so excited. During Thanksgiving she made me tell an old family friend, who was a retired judge and lawyer, about my aspirations. I told him, thinking he would be impressed and excited, but he just sighed and said "then you better love the law." He then proceeded to show me his pottery studio in his garage. He didn't say anything else really, but it was the evidence of a road not taken. It was not how my mom wanted to evening to go, but it taught me an important lesson. You can make all the money in the world but at the end of the day you will still want to spend your time in your metaphorical garage making pots. So what difference does the money make really? I wish you SO MUCH LUCK with everything! Thanks again for making my evening!

What a great story! Super glad you found what you are passionate about! My story us kina similar to yours, but still in progress. I recently turned 17 and a junior in high school. I did tons of acting classes, plays, and singing ever since I could talk basically. My parents told me I would sing and dance to "Its a Hard Knock Life" from Annie when I was 2. I did my first community play when I was 8 and got the part of Lottie in A Little Princess. I did a few more community plays, but then stopped and just did mini-movies, that I would edit on iMovie with my friends when I was aged 11-14. It took less time and commitment. Throughout middle and the first half of high school, I didn't do theater and I really regret that. I went to private school and was very focused on grades, I couldn't even think of adding an extracurricular to my schedule, I was rather depressed and lonely. Summer after sophomore year, I decided I should just go for it, I joined that same theater group I did when I was little and the same woman still ran it. I freaking loved it acting and made so many friends. I decided that theater is something I love and I wouldn't get this satisfaction from any other job that I could study in school or college. I am now doing everything I can to get experience in theater. I take weekly singing and ballet lessons, and some acting workshops as well as every play I can from community theater. I should have never stopped. But when I am a senior in high school, I plan to audition for musical theater colleges. I wish I would have listened to my heart and done theater all through middle and high school, I came close to auditioning for community theater a few times before summer after sophomore year, but that is in the past. The best thing that I can do now is to work my butt off to get the experience I need while I am still in high school. Next Up College Auditions.

I love this video! Good for you! I found you guys by your Whole 30 and Trader Joes video and then I watched one of your other videos and another and I was hooked! I think you guys are great. Im so glad your parents came around, you all seem like a wonderful family. You and Michelle are my comfort videos lol. At first I wasnt going to mention that in case you thought it was weird but then I saw the video where Michelles comfort thing at that time was falling asleep listening to Prisoner of Azkaban (totally awesome). Anyway thank you 2 for your videos theyre great! I have several chronic health conditions some that are very painful and leave me in bed more than I would like and with sleepless nights. When I have good days I love to clean and organize so you may find this amusing but I've watched the video where Michelle organizes your bathroom several times. Well keep up the great work and Merry Christmas!

I never NEVER comment on KZbin videos but this one just hit the spot. I have to say that it takes a lot of courage to major in something as "uncertain" as Theatre Arts because of the many negative feedback people get when they pursue it. I was in my first Theatre production as a Junior, before that I had never ever thought it was something for me. I had always believed I had stage fright. And now I am an upcoming Freshman and am minoring in Theatre Arts, I wish you all the best in your Theatre career :)

I’m so glad I came upon this video as I am thinking about being a film major and minoring in theatre. I really love theatre and my voice and music skills are pretty good but I’m not the best singer. Today I discussed my life choices with a teacher that told me I don’t really “ooze” with theatre and it hurt me dearly. I love broadway, I listen to sound tracks all the time, I’m in drama, and I was called specially to be in the musical my 7th and 8th grade year! But now watching ur video has made me realize that if ur passionate you can do anything!!

Trevor W I am sorry your teacher said that. My 12th grade drama teacher said that I am only good enough to do community theater. But, with our passion and hard work ethic, we can prove them wrong. Your teacher probably said that because they are only saying what they saw of you. They don’t always know the whole story.

Can anyone relate, I have no experience whatssoever with theatre, or singing, or dancing, but it's all I can see myself doing in the future. Anyone have tips for a newbie college student?
@CarolineForbesAndTaylorSwift
@CarolineForbesAndTaylorSwift 3 жыл бұрын
RosesAreReddx Well, you can take a gap year off after high school to take classes in singing, dancing, and acting and audition for community musicals and then use those to help with your college auditions. Take 2 years off if needed. It can be very hard to find time for theatre especially when you feel the pressure to ace all your classes.

I want to major in either theatre arts education or major in vocal and instrumental music education and have a minor in dance, i cant decide between majors and i dont know if theatre majors do much with singing or voice training and i think music education would be more of an experience for if you want to be a solo artist and not just broadway but i love theatre and it could help with gaining an experience for directing so idk im still deciding

I’ve always loved movies. I would LOVE making iMovies with my friends and we had a program at my elementary school in which we made short films. My group received an award for our short film at Lincoln Center which I was sooo proud of. I always switched around from what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to be involved in movies. I think I’ve settled on acting. So thank you for this vid

I love this video, and so inspiring! I have a bit of a different problem (I’m a junior in high school). I love theatre with all my heart and it makes me so happy and I would LOVE to be an actress but I really don’t think I’m talented enough or experienced enough to get into any good musical theatre programs for college since I’ve just recently fallen back in love with doing musicals and I haven’t had any lead roles since middle school and am not the strongest singer, but I know this is what I want to do. Anyone have any wisdom or advice?
