I don't actually think there's any evidence that Dagon was ever the alpha titan. At least as far as I know. Also him being Godzilla's ancestor is actually a misconception. They almost definitely lived at the same time in history. It's cool they added him to Age of Titans though!

Dagon is not Godzillas acenstor or father, he's more like a relative of Godzilla, it is said that Godzilla comes from the permian period, which was around 300-250 million years ago, so its possible Dagon comes from around the same era or is a bit older than Godzilla, all we know is that Godzilla and Dagon were alive during the period which Dagon was considered an alpha before Godzilla.
