An amazing and nice story at the same time about how the Stanford University was founded. Many (included myself) wrongly so far believed the Leland and Jane Stanford decided to build their own University in California because their son was not accepted at Harvard, when in fact the son died at the age of sixteen, nothing more far from reality!!!.

I thought I had heard the same stuff too somewhere. That they in fact build Standford because their son hadn’t been accepted in Harvard. But I had also heard that their son had died at young age and that they build in in his memory

Look at all of the company connected and crested by Stanford students and faculty. Sun micro systems, CISCO Systems. Google was created by students doing their masters. Mark Zuckerberg transferred from Harvard to Stanford where he founded Facebook. Yahoo was created by Stanford students. List goes on.
