@ it was hard to get diagnosed because there was only one person in my state who could give the diagnosis! And I was talking to her and she said that it was actually considered a speech disorder until super recently too

I struggled to get my diagnoses myself because they're "new" and "exclusion diagnoses" and apparently all the reasearch in the past decades on the comorbidity of early trauma with chronic illness hasn't reached the ears of the hospital leaders in this blatantly rich first world country I live in. Ugh. The slowness of scientific distribution frustrates me immensely.

@ oh man that’s super frustrating! I went 22 years telling people that I had a hard time hearing things, and getting regular hearing tests done, and then doctors telling me I’m fine. One time a doctor told me that I was fine and my problem with hearing was probably an attitude problem. Needless to say, I was really frustrated. So it was so amazing to find a doctor who told me that she believed me, and that she would help me fix it

@@devynnhanson I feel you. Gods. Last time I went to a specialist about my hearing, I went there specifically about my incredibly intrusive, three tone tinnitus. I took a hearing test, and as always, nothing is noticeable there, because my hearing is beyond normal scope - the whole "well, honestly your hearing is really good". Like that's not why I went there! When I point it out, I get told, yeah, we can like, requisition a white noise machine for you. He hadn't even heard of TRT (Tinnitus retraining therapiy) and he works in the premiere ear specialist's office in the capital city of the country! I couldn't even get custom made earplugs. -_- *I'm super happy for you. What did she say could be done about it?* At this point I've sort of given up on getting the diagnoses that confirm the stuff that I have, because I simply don't have the energy - paraphrasing another person with the same chronic illness as me said in an interview: "We can't fight for ourselves, because it requires the energy of a healthy person to do that - *we have to be healthy to be sick* according to the systems of the country."
