In this video from life in Cateel, Davao Oriental, we explore a random Barangay mountain road. It was big!! But before that, we hangout with Mama Rose, learn a bit about Coconut syrup, eat delicious food, and then head into town. Speaking of town... Cateel may be a small town, but it is full of good people and good vibes!
The local motor shop boys taught me a little language, and shared a few laughs with me on this day. Love this kind of interaction!

make sure to apply anti-termite liquid chemicals around your building, termites like to eat coco lumber and other types of wood...read the instruction carefully to get a satisfying results...apply from the foundations post, underneath concrete floors. spray all building interior floors, walls and ceilings... checked shell chemicals...Don't try to be cheap. (kuripot ) protect your project.

Mama Rose is not only a master chef but also a master saucier, super cool siya. I think what manong is building is part of the dining area. There will be a long table slightly above so that you can sit on the floor & that sunken-in part is where you can put your feet down if you don't want to sit Filipino style. The house & property is coming out so well.

The recessed floor is for horigotatsu - Japanese style dining table. If the table has hinges, or the floor has hinges, it could be a storage too.

Good Evening Kulas. It saddens me to see there were no more huge dipterocarp trees standing on that area. I hope they would leave the residual forest alone so trees could grow huge like before in the 60s and 70s. But I think those trees are Albecia Falacatta. They really look like Falcatta.

Your concern is similar to mine. Kyle visited Benguet in 2019. From the footage, I noticed that most of the mountains used to be covered with pine trees were converted into farmland. I am saddened to what I saw. My father is from the area. I am all for "progress" but not when trees are sacrificed because of "money". I wish our government will make an effort to preserve what's remaining. Better yet, encourage people to plant more trees to areas that are not suited for farming.

That smaller building must be your kitchen ☺ since you mentioned that it's the one that needs water and that the main 2-storey structure doesn't require water - so your kitchen can't be there. The other small building is your toilet and bath, as you said.
