Bed Stuy Brooklyn is a neighborhood in the northern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Bedford-Stuyvesant has the largest collection of intact and largely untouched Victorian architecture in the United States, with roughly 8,800 buildings built before 1900. Since the late 1930s, the neighborhood has been a major cultural center for Brooklyn's African American population. Since the early 2000s, Bedford-Stuyvesant has undergone significant gentrification, resulting in a dramatic demographic shift combined with increasing rent and real estate prices.

It’s crazy to see just from this tour, how NOT Black this historically Black neighborhood has become! I live on Greene & I’m alarmed daily by the swift transition. You showcase Bed Stuy beautifully!

I currently live here in Bed-Stuy. Although it came a long way unfortunately the neighborhood still has a high crime rate. The do or die mentality is still thriving despite the gentrification. Even though Bedford-Stuyvesant is nowhere near its dark days of the 1980s and early 1990s we still have a long way to go.

Bed-Stuy has completely changed from when I lived there. Once upon a time, there were no cafes, trendy restaurants, doggy parlors, futuristic condos and the only tall apartment buildings were “the projects” 😂; while we always had beautiful brownstones, there were entire blocks of burned out brownstones & apartment buildings; 4br brownstones used to go for just $150-$225K in 2000!!! Now, those same brownstones go for $1.5M and up 😮…while it’s good the area is safer, I miss the sense of community and organic natural feel of the area. Too much gentrification can destroy a neighborhood. But, we live in a capitalist society so it’s all about supply & demand 🤷🏽‍♂️

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD... MY CHILDHOOD ENERGY RESONATES ALL ON THOSE STREETS AND EACH BLOCK BRINGS BACK MEMORIES OF MY UNIQUENESS AND CULTURE. IT'S CRAZY WHAT THIS NEIGHBORHOOD HAS BECOME AND TO SEE IT (WHITEWASHED) IS VERY DISTURBING. I ALWAYS KNEW (BED-STUY) WAS A DIAMOND... IT HURTS THAT THE RESIDENTS DIDN'T VALUE IT MORE. I HOPE AND PRAY ONE DAY THAT THE GENERATION AFTER MINE WILL UNDERSTAND AND FIND THEIR WAY BACK TO THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE...

honest feedback, would have been great to start the vid off going through the brownstone tree-lined streets first, then the avenues later .. Streets like Jefferson, Halsey, Greene or even the Stuyvesant-Heights area of Bed-Stuy, or the famous Biggie Mural on the corner of Quincy & Bedford. The residential parts of Bed-Stuy are where the real beauty is - that might go for almost all of Brooklyn (in my opinion).. Some avenues, like Thompkins (where you're walking) and Nostrand, have some neglected pockets (lil bit dirty) or construction happening, so it may throw a first time viewer off as to what the majority of Bed-Stuy is really like.. -- Def enjoyed watching and seeing all the familiar streets. -- Blessings.

@@Melztweets Maybe not ur block/every block. But as a community as a whole, I posted fact. I like it better b4 trust believe, but was it really better for mom, dad, maryjane & the kids? Dig 1. The bush-stuy & Broadway fires from the end of 70s blackout. Wit building n lots til recent from j line to stuyvesant. 2. Historic mansions warehouses & brownstones. Most gone, beyond repair, abandoned (how new buildings get up). 3. Empty lots between buildings for decades full of old cars & garbage. Many still around, the ones gone are now called community gardens, greenspace middle of the block type ish. Moral: our Bro & Sis could of maintained- gotten adverse possession of thangs, squatted to own, made real $(thats why & how the first wave of gentrifiers colonized brooklyn, free real-estate for artists)

This hasn't been a slum area for many years (apart from the housing projects parts which are in Manhattan, Queens, Bronx too) It's one of the up and coming areas of Brooklyn. Tons of new trendy condos and apartments popping up every month. Half of the residents are now white hipsters. But Still a lot of black owned businesses bars, restaurants etc which is good.
