All his follow up attacks emulate the properties from the original attack, just with different animations. Like, the animation is different, but speed, trajectory, number of hits, etc is all based off of the originating special. 236P is a fast long range projectile with minor homing properties and so is the follow up. The most glaring disparity is on 236S, but pay attention to the trajectory and number of hits, and you'll see that if you just swapped the explosion animation for a shadow version of the character doing the 236S animation, it would match. Animation aside, I think the follow ups are all treated as projectiles for mechanical purposes (probably can be flicked by Potemkin, bypassed by projectile invulnerability or eaten up by bigger projectiles), but are otherwise identical to their special move counterpart. tl;dr: It is basically a remix of the Deja Vú mechanic, with unique animations for the follow ups instead of a shadow repeating the move. And instead of the moves being planted on the stage like traps, they originate from your character. EDIT: It seems like Bedman? has something similar to the old 8-way dash, you can kinda see it in the Chipp clip in this demonstration (after challenging Chipp air-to-air spamming what seems to be it's j.P, he apparently stops for a moment and comes down diagonally) and in the reveal trailer too. Didn't see it double jumping or use the standard air dash, just the weird stall in the air and moving diagonally down/forward, so it may not be "8-way" anymore tho.

Ooh, on Call 4B9 (the head explosion one, 236H), the follow-up Error 6E projectile even inherits the damage of the charged version it looks like. The timing is the same as regular, but it chunks more hp. That's a pretty interesting property to have for sure.

I like that special moves names like "error" and "malfunction" ensure that no matter how powerful Bedman? actually is, it will always be officially broken.

I'm interested to see error 6E's interaction with throw and backdash. Also, if it's possible to get a combo from throw into followup or raw followup, how scaled it is.

In the first trailer we can see Bedman back dashing while the exploding head follow up is going out, not sure how throw would work I imagine it would probably delay the timer

Bedman's install super is very interesting. I wonder if the install super: - Increases Bedman's defense or guts since the person in the video mentions the install increasing bedman's "defensive power" - Gives enhanced specials and error state followups other properties, specifically guard crush - Increases the reversal super's power If you didn't have time to test that, it's cool. Just some things I had on my mind after watching the starter guide

Ideas for his special names 236P: Spike Follow Up: Spark 236S: Spin Follow Up: Bomb 236HS: Slap Follow Up: Head 214P: Instant 214K: Delay (these 2 will probably be used as modifiers to other special moves so they don't really need names)

236s is referred to as beyblade in Xrd so people will probably use that. Bomb is ambiguous because it could refer to 236H or head explosion as well. I suggest barrage. Slap could also refer to the overhead down slam command normal (I'm assuming). I don't have a suggestion for this one.

while short names are nice, they would not make sense for bedman to have used, long names would be more accurate or more code language would be better, bad for memory but better for design.

One of things I'm testing out immediately is instant error 6e (call 0x$0.20) kara install super. It's shown in the guide that you can install _right_ before error 6e goes off and it will empower it. If you can trigger the error with kara super, it will be *extremely* easy to install as the error will cover you. If the error is also _empowered,_ he's going to have some degenerate offense after setting up an error 6e. It also seems like there's some recovery to the install, so you'll need to have a pending error 6e to cover yourself anyway.

From what I've seen, even though the animations are different, they made the error followups similar if not the same in terms of frame data. For example, the spike is a fast homing projectile, so is the followup. The same with 236H guard crush, the head bomb followup also guard crushes

Something kinda interesting is that the follow ups actually mimic deja vu a lot more than at first glance; all of the follow ups are very similar to their original specials. Spike’s follow up is another tracking projectile, spin’s is a traveling multihit, and arm’s is a guard crush with slow startup.

Here's a few basic ideas to check : - Is anything related to Bedman old run mechanic there. Does the bed have a regular dash ? Does it have the really good walk speed foward and back ? - Is 2H a low ? ( because holy shit that move ) - In general, some info about his normals would be good. I like a lot about the potential of this character's specials, but feeling like slow and bad normals might be really problematic.

@@davidwilkinson4634 strive is the only one I have an issue with. Accent core has Justice, Robo-Ky and Venom. Xrd has Venom, Dizzy, and Ramethal. Noone in strive got my attention anywhere near what those characters did in the past games

the powered up follow ups will probably grant you a super knockdown after wallbreak as well(if theyre generally treated as supers), that'd be interesting to find out. Anyways as a bedman liker I'm super excited for him, the way they simplified him is super elegant.

Edit: Actually I’m more curious about the install after talking to friends. Approx time duration, meter gain penalty, can you refresh the install while it’s active are my big questions. If you have a chance I’m curious if you can create auto timed oki just off the malfunction 6e follow up. I’m assuming yes and that’s what it’s mostly for but that seems so gross bc of the way throws interact with guard crush lol. Good luck at EVO JP this weekend!!

@@naw613 yeah I've only made it to floor 10 thanks to Ram's knowledge checks, if I can figure something out with Bedman that could work, my worry is that he looks like a 2 step neutral character that is not straightforward. I'm real bad at those types of characters. I'm determined though, time to put in the effort!

@@naw613 nah they're pretty complicated, for both the fighter and the opponent. You'll need to keep a mental timer of the delay, and then if they decide to delay it longer, keep that in mind as well.

I wonder whether all of his movement tools are the same as in xrd. That would mean that his walk speed is more like a run, his forwards dash gives him a guard point and teleports behind the enemy when a move has been avoided and of course as mentioned his 8-way dash.

If you can at EvoJapan, can you check if error 6E follows up from raw dust or even grab? I feel like this would strongly impact his potential. Also what would be more interesting to see is if all error 6E follow ups are air OK. I feel like this would also help mix and give him very stylish combos if he could bomb drop from the air and land on a guard crushed opponent.

Main thing I wanna know is if you can use the 8-way dash as a mixup as the follow-up moves are coming out. Similar how Zato does to do j.D or airdash down>2K while eddie is doing pressure.

Can you check if (jump cancellable normal) into TK Call 4B3 is decent in pressure? and also If you cancel a longer recovery normal like 5H into Call 0x$1.00(the follow up delay special) are you plus?

it seems like Bedman has full movement control during an error 6e follow up, so i’m assuming it’s going to be possible to setup a situation where you can auto time the oki and still be able to block reversals.

Another application I thought off is to either time a follow up to hit after 236H or time a move to come out right after the 236H follow-up to combo off the guard crush without RC'ing, essentially making it a meterless unblockable.

@@ethanhinton4549 From the fist clip with bed doing 236P, it looks as if doing another special move will reset the timer for when the ERROR followups occur. So I don't think it would go off during a special move in any situation. However it seems like either his 2H or 6H (not sure which) is a forward advancing multihit normal and you could probably time the Error followup to give you big plus frames during it, or on hit give you a juggle state that you can combo from.

I wonder if the error 6e trigger will be for the 1st special you do or the last when the timer is up IE you do 4BA then 4B9 , will you shoot the second 4BA projectile or the 4B9, Also would doing a second move reset the timer?

Personally, I want to know if you can enter 6e state while a follow up is on screen. In the install state, they break the wall with the powered up spin but if you could reapply 6e with the fireball or spin while the wall is breaking, will the follow up let you lock them down with a meaty charged guard crush into rc shenanigans?

I would like to ask for 3 things to be checked. 1) I assume not but can follow ups be stacked? 2) If not what happens if you do a different special move while still in Error6E state? 3) Can you do the timing special moves before the attack special moves and steal have them affect the timing accordingly for the follows up done after?

I'm most interested in finding out about what kind of ground movement Bedman? has. The teleport-looking backdash is gone, and nothing has been shown of the guard-point dash. What I'm most curious about is if he's like Nago or Pot with no forward step option.

If the follow ups act as supers, I wonder what that means for bursts. Like if it becomes easier or harder to burst. You'll know which moves can't be bursted. Also I wonder if the combo scaling will be crazy because I don't think super damage can be scaled below 20%

Probably was already gonna check this, but I'm most curious on a few things. Does the install super last long enough to reasonably get 2 HKD wall breaks off of it? Can you combo into install and keep the combo going? When cancelling into the install super and 214K, can you make yourself plus after specific normals?

They didn't outright show it, but I wonder how 236H works on block if you charge it? I can already see how disgusting it could be to time the 236S malfunction and use the blockstun from that to fully charge 236H.

For testing, After the opponent gets guard crushed by 236HS, try grab or run up grab. Will the follow up hit the opponent during the grab for a combo?

If Faust gives Bedman an Afro and Bedman does the move where he pops his head off... Does the Afro enhance his head explosion? Does it get rid of the Afro?

I wonder how many error 6e moves you can get off during the install super, and if activating the follow ups early with .2 makes them weaker or do less damage or changes the follow-ups properties. Because if bedman? can loop that guard crush followup that'd be insanity lmfao

I think that would kind of screw up his corner pressure though. Imagine everytime any special you use hits near the wall, it breaks the wall. You may not want that, and continuing corner pressure may be preferable.

@@SpaceCowboy1627 I guess, but there's a lot of characters who just break the wall for the damage and positive bonus. It's not all about wall slumps/corner resets. Tbh I think the Bed will do well with positive since RC-ing a special move will lead to a free followup which I'm sure will be mix. I'm kinda scared that the 236S followup with all those explosions will lead to my least favorite kind of mix: the kind where you can't see what's happening on screen so you can't see what to block lol

You can make every special instant kill and Ky players still won't use dragon install because it's the activation requirement that's too difficult of a sell. 30% health as a trigger is just too hard of a sell on a character with no major health mods like Potemkin with defense and health or Anji with guts.

Yeah none of the follow ups seem to involve any animations that would involve an attacking limb, so there's nothing stopping the follow up explosions, spark, or head bomb from happening while any other action is going off. That's going to get really interesting for pressure.

It feels like this character really struggles on defense - the whole kit is offense-focused, and Error 6e is cleared when blocking. If Bedman doesn't have 50 tension for reversal super or YRC, they're pretty screwed. Bedmirrors are gonna be sooooooo volatile though. Winner of RPS gets to play more RPS

He's going to struggle on defense about as much as everyone else who doesn't have a meterless DP, I think. I don't see how he's any different from other characters whose gimmick really can't be used on defense (which is... I think everybody?). The only way to really judge his defense against the rest of the cast is going to be his buttons, and if he lacks a quick button to mash out of a bad situation with then yeah his defense isn't going to be stellar. That being said, he *will* have some of the best space control in the game, advantages of being able to control more than one section of the screen at the same time with his follow-ups.

I'm interested in seeing what happens if you use a special while you've got a follow-up already loaded: does the special move overwrite the next follow-up? Do they stack up on top of eachother and execute in sequence? Do specials that normally give a follow-up just... not do that when you already have a follow-up loaded? I feel like the answer to this is probably the most important bit of information we can get.

it overwrites the previous one and starts the error sequence over again. around 3:21 in this vid you can see Bedman do 2 beyblades in a row and it demonstrates this behavior.

@@skbj6782 That actually makes it much less interesting, but probably more fair in the long run... of course I'm assuming the frame data on his beyblade, but this 100% stops you from doing beyblade into error follow-up to skip neutral and be plus. (Which, admittedly, would be really degenerate, but at least he'd be telegraphing it with his other specials to set up the approach)

true, but with fast RC you can probably neutral skip with the beyblade into a powerful offensive situation because you’ll have an error 6e on deck after the RC. I’m also thinking there’s going to be some crazy oki setups that are completely safe for bedman since it looks like you have full control when an error 6e follow up happens (unless triggered manually). I think his whole thing will be relentless and creative offense based around error 6e mind games, heavily punishing opponents for guessing wrong. if he can setup meterless combos from a throw…oh man.

I'm interested in his projectile game. Aside from testament, projectiles feel weaker than they should in strive for most characters. Hopefully, he allows for varied play and some zoning/footsie engagement. Also looking forward to downloading a mod to remove Delilah, she's annoying visual noise to a scary character.

One thing I want you to check is if Delilah has any different damage value when she is near bedman? like, does the bed deal more or less damage near her, and the same goes for if he takes more or less damage.

I think the 236 hs is also a standing low since they had sol crouch block, idk how many other low guard crushes there are, so no one should sleep on the bed 😂💀
