Mo Usman’s story is very sad… his son drowned and he failed at everything… until with help from this little bro he made it to TUF with a last minute win. And after TUF everyone continued to doubt Mo. but Mo kept winning. They said he couldn’t beat Junior Tafa, then he did. They said he couldn’t become a ranked fighter. Then he did. They said he couldn’t beat anyone in the top 5. And he did. They said he couldn’t become a champion. And so he did. Mo Usman’s story is very inspiring. Dk why he wasn’t included here.

If Francis was still in the UFC. He should’ve been in S tier. He literally crossed as an immigrant from Cameroon to France. He didn’t speak the language, slept in the streets until he found an MMA gym to train. Also, I would’ve put Themba Gorimbo on B tier. He had to slept in the gym and Colby had to buy food for him
@Strype135 ай бұрын
If sleeping in the gym while mooching food is the threshold for being B-tier inspirational, I feel like we need to squeeze about half of the UFC roster into the B-tier, as that seems to be an extremely common "come up" story that a large percentage of MMA fighters can relate to.

In terms of story: My picks: - Francis: That dude's life is like a film. Watch a doc on it. Growing up to be a sand miner in Cameroon, his journey to Europe which was insane, being homeless in France. Now he's a UFC champ and one of the best HW boxers in the world. Crazy. - Jim Miller: Lyme disease is no joke. Most people don't recover from that. Not only has he learned to walk again, but he's a better fighter than he's every been as an old man. - Jared Gordon: It's a tough tough life. Favorites: - Charlie Olives: Being a sick kid and his hard run in the sport - Strickland: Terrible childhood and super dysfunctional family - Leon: Jamaica is a dangerous place, having to then live in Birmingham, his Dad's murder, that head kick. - Poatan: Alcoholic child to one of the best fighters the world has ever seen.

"I hope you could feel the happiness I'm feeling right now for at least once in your life" was definitely an inspirational line and not cringe. Given the context of Izzy finally beating the guy who beat him 3 times, when so many people gave up on him, it made the line hit so much harder. So many people would want to have that slaying the dragon moment for at least once in their life. It was a great never-give-up story. To each their own. 🤷♂️ Also, Leon deserves to be S tier for the Usman comeback alone. The post fight interview was as iconic as the knockout. "I was born in Jamaica with nothing. I lived in a woodem shed, zinc roof. Y'all doubted me, said I couldn't do it. You all said I couldn't do it! Look at me now! Living it! Pound for pound! Headshot, dead! That's it!" 🤷♂️ I also think Leon's post fight interview vs Colby was the main trigger for Colby getting booed out of the arena. "He's a good competitor, but a dirty human being."
