Why internal resistance is taken parallel to actual current source on the other hand series to actual voltage source?

Internal resistances are not physical resistances but are the losses expressed in terms of equivalent resistance. So they are imaginary but they represent that the voltage or current source are not ideal but practical. Now let's see first about voltage source. Let's say it is designed to deliver +5V. So ideally it must deliver +5V for all the values of load, hence using ohms law, the current shall vary for the voltage to be constant. But practically this doesn't happen, and as load increases (i.e. load resistance decreases), current increases and voltage drop increases. So this voltage drop has to be shown somewhere, and thus comes the internal resistance in series with voltage source. If it would have been in parallel and as we know in parallel voltages are same, we would not have been able to show the losses! Now consider current source, in the same manner, current is same in series but differs in parallel network. Hence to show current losses, a parallel resistance (imaginary) is so established that it will sink the lost current and the remaining current, which is practically seen, will be delivered to the load. Now if the resistance would have been in series, the ideal current source would have delivered the rated current to the load, but this was not the practical observation, but it was observed that the current delivered was less than the rated value of ideal current source. Hence we have to establish a parallel resistance and not a series once to indicate the losses.

Too much advertisement which are definitely annoying. Otherwise good explanation.
