One of the simplest and easiest feeder I have seen and won't drown your bees. Will try it ASAP as spring is here in Australia

The bees approve, unless you put it to close to a weak hive!!

Thank's Jason. I lost the package I installed in the top bar bee hive. As soon as they released the queen she packed her stuff and left with the kids. That seems to be the norm around my place. lol! The package I installed in the nuc box is doing great. I just installed the 10th frame on the second nuc super. I'm gonna move them to a regular 10 frame hive pretty soon

pretty cool, what do ya use for the mix or do you buy it ?

It's simple syrup, basic recipe is a 1 to 1 mix of sugar and water brought to a boil so it won't go back to sugar. I go a little heavy on the sugar, especially if I have new hives drawing comb.

Excellent how to vid bro. Those bees really liked the work you put into it. How long will those buckets last?

I made two, spring of last year, didn't use them much but left them out all year and they are still good. If you actually got them out of the sun when you weren't using them I imagine 3 years or more. Thanks!

I'd make some, but I don't have any bees. I was sorta thinking one of these would attract hummingbirds, but I'll guess not. On the other hand, I'll bet hummingbird feeders would be popular with bees. Just thinking...

You would draw bees like crazy, Humming bird feeders draw bees as well so I hear, I need to look at those, they might be easy to sit close to a swarm box during swarm season! Trap a free colony!! My email let me know you found the other channel! Gonna put up a few more vids on it before I shout it out!

1952Jeep Drawing bees into any garden or place where fruit trees are could only be a good thing, especially when things are flowering. Personally, I haven't really ever seen more than one swarming colony in my life. One guy in Oregon captures wild bee colonies exclusively because he says they're hardier, and less susceptible to colony collapse. He also says the bees aren't very docile. Also, is it proper KZbin etiquette to shout out one's own channel?

John Strabismus In reverse: Yes it is proper etiquette, folks do it all the time. Yes swarms/ferrule honey bees are much stronger, and a little more aggressive. You would be surprised how many bees you have close to you! If you built a bucket and put it on a stand near your garden it would draw pollinators like mad!

1952Jeep I was just kidding about the "etiquette." Just have fun. That's what it supposed to be about.

LOL! The oddity of making YT vids, you see it and grab it...then wonder why you didn't have one of the 5 torpedo levels you own in your pocket in the first place!! Still, it's fun not being perfect!! I enjoy the feedback! Take care!
