@@eggy1962 I always thought it strange they would call and release the song as that, given that they are British themselves. Yes, I am aware that they say they wrote it about one of the 'housekeepers' in the apartment they were temporarily staying at while making the album. Call me cynical, but I don't really buy that story. I think this was them being subtly naughty. That cover story allowing them to get away with it.

You said something very true... No one can, even tho they might be sympathetic to your pain, Feel the Loneliness and hurt of a heart so badly broken that it could take forever to heal and heal properly. They say time heals everything... Not True... Time heals Nothing, it just helps you cope with the pain and the hurt to 'subside' little by little but the scars will remain (depending on the person) until you give your Love again to someone who can nurture it back to health. My heart was broken so badly 27 years ago that I actually had two heart attacks even thou I was in a perfect state of health. Somehow your Heart Resents and Reciprocates the deep feeling of Loss and you can carry that for an Eternity... Mine has the Scars to prove that. Thank you for your beautiful Reaction and Review of our precious music.

This song was one of their early hits, if not their first big hit. The song opens with Robin singing by himself, and then Barry and Maurice join in. Barry, who was the oldest sibling, after the death of Maurice and Robin, stopped performing in public. I saw a video of him as a special guest at a concert, and Barry did this song, singing the intro that Robin would always do. He broke down and stopped singing where they would all join in. The band kept playing and the audience picked up the slack, singing the song while Barry composed himself in the next 10 seconds or so, and then started singing again. He had tears in his eyes, and it effected me too, as the Bee Gees were just making their mark, as I was graduating high school. They were great talents, and unique in their music.

Great song from early Bee Gees (1971). The Bee Gees were superstars twice .. once in the late 60s into the 70s and then again in the mid to late 70s during the disco era. Robin sings the first verse with his distictive voice then Barry finishes the reset of the song.

Thanks for playing some old school Bee Gees, they had a tremendous pop rock career with tons of great songs in the 60s to mid 70s, before the disco era. Some prefer that, I like the song writing from the earlier period. They sound great in any event and thanks for giving them another listen. Try To Love Somebody Holiday, I Started a Joke and Massachusetts. Also, you look good as always, nice, positive energy. Enjoy! 😎

This is an underrated hit by the Brothers Gibb mainly because of the massive success that followed in the 7o's. For further proof of their greatness the tracks LOVE SO RIGHT, NIGHTS ON BROADWAY, and FANNY BE TENDER (WITH MY LOVE) show versatility and the poetry of words to music that mark their best work. It has been mentioned that the Reverend Al Green gives a soulful rendition of this song live that leave you silent with your reverential thoughts.

When I walked the floor with my infant daughter back in 1989, night after night I would softly "da da da" the melody of the verses (not the breathy chorus) in her ear. It's one of the most uniquely beautiful extended note sequences in all of music. The lyrics are okay, but this song is much more about the feeling it conveys, in my opinion. When she was about 30, I had her listen to the song, then asked her if she knew it. She said it was familiar, but she didn't know why. When I revealed its special relevance to her, she really choked up.
