I think he's so underrated. I played this song for about 8 people. I showed them nothing, didn't tell them who was even performing the song. ALL of them said that Robin's voice is better than Barry's.

I would disagree, especially if you like such songs as Too Much Heaven How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, etc.

The only people that I react to are those that react to the Bee Gees, because there is no better musicians on the universe than these three brothers. This song is beautiful. I love all of their music, but especially the music from the early 60s and even in the 80s in the 90s for goodness sake‘s. These guys have had hits for over five decades. I get really frustrated when people call them the disco group and if you watch interviews with Barry you will find he gets really pissed off when people call them the disco group they are not the disco group they are so much more that was just a part of their careers when they were really on fire. Listen to the early music as you are now and keep listening and you will see what I mean :-)

I love their 70s to their 2000s songs the best! They covered so many genres over their careers! So amazing. Plus they wrote and produced so many classic hits for other artists! Their music touched my soul. I love your reactions to their songs! You really get them! They sing emotions.

The Bee Gees were always great story tellers. This song is about a man who is on death row waiting to be put to death for killing someone. I have read that it was his wife’s lover. He is asking the preacher to give a message to his wife. In the 60´s they were second only to the Beatles in popularity. Thank you for your very well thought out reactions. Please react to LOVE SO RIGHT. By The Bee Gees.I looked in your videos but couldn’t find it. ❤❤❤❤

The words are so deep, based on a true fact about a man on death row who has only one more hour of life and talking to the Pastor, who is walking him to his end. Pretty sad!! The Bees Gees were magicians with lyrics.

60’s and early 70’s gave Robin a lot of shine, but he was also pretty prominent in their 80’s and 90’s songs. Definitely worth listening to their later music as well 👍

I would love for you to do a reaction to “I can’t see nobody” from their 1974 Melbourne concert. Another that I would really like you to do is “For whom the bell tolls” and the best version of that is the one filmed in New York with the twin towers in the background. Thanks for all of your previous reactions.

Basically Robin wrote this and his brothers thought it was too much of a downer to record about a man about to be executed but he explained it was a love song so they relented. Obviously SOME OF US were teenagers in the 60's and heard these guys from early on. This was on "The Hollywood Palace", a variety show in the US. I believe they did "Massachusetts" that night as well. Robin's vibrato is beautiful. Robin was more soulful and Barry more powerful. This was their first band when they returned to the UK in 1967 and included two friends from Australia, Colin Peterson on drums and Vince Melouney on lead guitar. The UK tried to deport those two for overstaying their visas but their fans (and their manager's staff) locked themselves to the gates of Buckingham Palace and they stayed. Maurice was on bass. You only have @1000 more songs to do. A great reaction would be their medley from the 1989 "One for all" concert in Melbourne. They do bits of their own recordings plus songs they wrote for others, you get to see their natural interaction and each brother gets a chance to shine.

The song is really so beautiful that you don’t notice right away that they’re singing about a guy who’s heading to his own execution. The priest taunted him and said come walk one more mile (the green mile so to speak). Barry talked about this song in an interview laying out the story of a guy who killed another guy over a girl and wanted to tell her sorry before he checked out. Amazing song, everything The Bee Gees did was golden! #RipRobinMauriceandAndy

When you see these videos that appear to be live, back in the sixties and seventies, remember guitars and microphones had to have cords coming from them to their amplifiers. If you do not see the cord from the guitar or microphone, then it is not a live performance. Instead, they are lip syncing to their recorded version. They did this to prevent audio problems during a live show. Most artists who went on television had to learn to lip sync to their own tunes.

Seems like they're singing live to the studio track
@susieq9801 Жыл бұрын
@@timetravellingone - Back in the 60's networks also wouldn't spend the money necessary for live performances of supposedly "here today, gone tomorrow" groups, especially the snotty BEEB. The Bee Gees 99.9% of the time refused to lip synch and always insisted in singing live even if they had to do so to a backing track. Vocals here were live. This was on "The Hollywood Palace" in the US.
@angelinasanchez5083 Жыл бұрын
@@susieq9801 you’re correct, Barry said in an interview that they have never lip synced and they had no intention of ever doing it.

Love that you reacted to this! Your takes are always on point and your intuitive awareness is so refreshing.This is my favorite Bee Gees song prior to the 70s falsetto disco sound. remarkable voices, Robin and Barry. Robin's voice is the more emotionally driven sound. Barry sounds more pop to me. "Massachusetts" and "How can you mend a broken heart?" are two more great hits of theirs.

Love all their music especially the earlier songs. I got married 30 years ago on The first of May. I love their song First of May. They also wrote so many huge hits for others. Guilty for Barbara Striestand Island in the streams for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. One of the all time best writers and singers. Great reaction 👏👏👏

I agree with you. I love the variety in their songs. If their voices were the same it wouldn’t be as exciting. And Maurice’s voice fills in the gaps. They were blessed to have voices perfectly suited for each other. The Bee Gees were meant to be. Oh, and I really love Barry’s brown suit, and how he moves. 😉
