The bass line was actually written by Blue Weaver on a synth while Maurice was away from the studio. Weaver overdubbed the original demo and played it for Maurice when he returned and suggested he play his bass over the top of the synth. Maurice loved what Weaver had come up with and did just that.

Right. The keyboard bass synthesizer, in this case Minimoog, is the foundation and he’s playing bass guitar over the same notes he played on the minimoog. Either way, Maurice really understood Groove and how to express those notes in a way that made you dance. He was truly the one that created and inspired the rhythm section in all The Bee Gees hits.

Maurice “Mo” was the glue to The Bee Gees. In the beginning I think (In my humble opinion) he was too at awww with Lulu and getting hammered with his neighbor Ringo (John Lennon gave him his 1st drink). Google Maurice Gibb and Ringo...their home Videos....they had to have been on something. But, Mo went into Rehab (Ringo too). They became sober. At the end of his life Mo was dedicated to his family and Paintball. He was a World Champion of Paintball. He was “Commander Mo”, Captain Moby”. He was so fit for his age. From what I understand it, this was also due to the mystery of who did it. At the time the Brothers Gibb were considered passe and most DJ's wouldn't even bother playing their music so the music label pulled a trick- they sent out copies of the song with blank sleeves so if they wanted to know about it, they had to listen to it. And they did. And they loved it. Everyone was shocked when the truth came out because it was so different than anything the BeeGees had done to that point and it really gave their career a second wind.

Maurice Gibb played the bass on all of their funky/disco songs. In the 80´s, when the bass was not so prominent in their songs, he switched to the keyboard and rhythm guitar, though he occasionally played the bass at live concerts. He was the most musically gifted of the brothers, who was responsible for the rhythm section and basslines for the songs, including programming the drum machines and synths

This is kinda right before they got tagged with the "Disco" label. At this point they were kinda blue eyed soul group with rock and roll elements. Top muscians by all mean. Maurice is a criminally underrated bassist and the other chaps were damn near virtuosos. Barry is a solid rhythm guitarist on top of being an excellent singer.

I watched the hbo show on The Bee Gees and how they wrote their own songs. These 3 men had real talent as they even wrote songs for other artists to sing. It’s sad to know that the twins have passed away. (I’m a twin) Barry I understand still performs my hat off to him. I wish the day of this music would return as it is for all age groups to dance and love one another again and put in their hearts.

A #1 hit for The Bee Gees in August 1975. It also hit #1 on the Cash Box charts, the Record World charts, and in Canada. It went to #9 on the Adult Contemporary charts and the Hot Disco charts. It also did well outside the US. The lowest that it charted was #27 on the Canadian AC charts.

These guys were vilified in America by the anti-disco crowd. I was a teenager in America in the mid to late seventies and loved every piece of music they made. And I knew enough that disco was not what defined them. They produced all kinds of music. Their disco music was good also. I stood up to the peer pressure and played their 8 tracks in my car. A legendary group.
