@elpistolero82 Absolutely correct. They were, unwittingly, starting to become a joke, a caricature of the disco days of the 70's. They played it extremely cool, worked the shadows, perfecting this song, and their wardrobe, a far cry from the medallions and tight jeans of the 70s. Only when they were happy with the finished product, they unleashed it on a still unsuspecting public. Number one EVERYWHERE. The Bee Gees had the last laugh. It showed to me just exactly how clever they really were. Unfortunately there is only Barry left now, but in their day, they were unmatchable. Legendary singles and albums, fantastic videos and clothes, amazing dance routines and absolutely incredible voices.

And what the hell do we have now? I can't see anybode of those so-wanted "superstars" perform for 10-20 years or more, like most of those from my list and STILL be that good. That’s bc many artists today are more committed to money and themselves than the fun of their talent. I never saw the Bee Gees flaunt their money and fame. They didn’t ditch each other. Not only their music lives one, but their example to other artists as well.

Was America caught sleeping in 1987 to have totally missed the great Bee Gees comeback with this masterpiece of a song? Did they also miss the fact that it hit No.1 in Britain and other countries? Shame on those radio stations for refusing to play this. Now you can't undo what was already done.

In the middle of the 80s the bee Gees banged out two of the decades greatest hits. “You win again” and Diana Ross’s chain reaction. I was about 3 years old when these tracks came out but they left an indelible mark on my young mind. Now as a composer and record producer myself, and 5 or so million records sold under my belt I can’t help but get emotional listening to their music which has been so important in my own development. The point i’m trying to make is, an incredible song is not just “an incredible song”. it’s not just a piece of art/ commerce that enriches the maker and entertains the consumer. To the psyche of the young mind It’s a potential DNA changing element, defining how future generations abstract their world. Thank you to the BeeGees for helping me abstract mine.

Those stomps they added in addtoo that stadium sound as you described. Maurice Gibb said in an interview they originally weren't going to keep them in, it was only meant to be for the intro and others were telling them to take them out, but once they were in, they were like fuck no.

One of the best songs, AND best videos to match, from the '80s. Unlike others that seem dated, this one gets better and more relevant with time. Maybe the Bee Gees did get E.S.P. when they made this.

I heard this on the radio when I was in the salon and didn't know it was the BeeGees...spent ages trying to find it as I couldn't figure out the lyrics...then me and my partner agonised over trying to figure the tune I was humming to him, so I had to backtrack over the style of voice, then it came to me just now that it was a slightly higher voice but still male, boom...had to be them, but I went over so many 80/90s style ballad singers to get there! Love this track and so glad I found it ❤❤❤
