Beehive Geyser Eruption (BONUS - Sounds of Yellowstone)

Here's a little extra bonus footage from an eruption at Beehive Geyser in Yellowstone National Park. It's not exactly sleep- or concentration-soothing like the other ones in our series, but we still wanted to share it with you. Depending on where you stand, you will get completely drenched, just as we did in this video (you can hear the microphone muffling from the silica water). For that reason and others, Beehive eruptions are very exciting to experience (as you can tell).
This particular eruption of Beehive took place on Sept 7, 2023.

Oh, I forgot this. If you ever are so fortunate as to be drenched by geyser spray (please stay on the boardwalks!: see how Belgian Spring got its name😉) and photograph or video it, IMMEDIATELY wipe off glasses, cameras, camera lenses, etc. if you do not want to take home an unwanted and permanent memento of your experience. The warm, silica-rich spray from the geyser will quickly dry on any surface and will be almost impossible to remove once dry. Ask me how I know....😉

It’s amazing how loud this geyser is. My first experience of its eruption happened early one morning when I was staying in the Inn. I heard the sound of rushing water and wondered what it was. By the time I got to a window facing that part of the basin, all that was left of the eruption was the final steam. Still one of mt strongest Yellowstone memories.

I cant even see the humans and i can hear the peoples reactions as they get sprayed with the geyser water! 😂 I watch the old faithful roof camera often and its so funny to watch them scramble out of the way when Beehive starts. I could hear its low rumble from my room in the Old Faithful Inn too in the early mornings

If you look closely you can see that the geyser has a second, far smaller vent about a metre away from the main one. as it doesn't start at the same time as the main geyser, it may be completely separate, in which case, visitors here get two for the price of one!

What a magical place. My mom and sisters and I took a road trip there from Portland OR in the early 70s. I still have the photos - one is a blurry black-and-white photo of a black bear approaching my car window before I quickly rolled it up. We knew it was not good to feed the bears even back then. 🐻🤎

The human sounds are just as much of the human experience of Yellowstone NP as any other. The excitement and surprise of being present at an awesome event like an eruption of Beehive is so joyful! How can you not cheer? Our earth is so wonderful!

What is the temperature of the water when it comes out? I would have thought the people would be scalded.

I usually complain about vertical videos but this is one instance where it should be vertical.
