I had a three deep hive this spring with 14 frames laid out . I prefer doubles as a larger hive will produce more bees than two singles and if you want a huge honey crop per hive it takes a large hive population . Average in Nipawin Sask area was 200lbs per hive this year and we have long winters and short summers so larger populations in the spring are a must

What do you think about only using deeps? Just avoiding honey supers all together. Is the only con the weight of deeps? I want to run all deeps it seems more simple other than the extra weight.

well professional continental beekeepers get less work out of one brood box and more honey too - contrary to what you say. have a look into Dadant-frame sizes for Broodframes (also called 'jumbo') Nationals are too small and therefor work prone and management heavy..

She can't fill a 2 frame box...aprox 9k cells per frame x 10 frames = 90 k cells a queen lays 2k eggs a day x 21 days is 42k egg brood and laeva at any one time in the single brood box on the 21st day the first eggs laid will emerge allowing 2k more cells forher to lay in essentially always leaving over half the cells 48k available for polen and honey storage in the brood box..I will say if you don't have time to keep eye on your hive you will have more swarms

So something I have noticed with everyone that does two brood box in the winter is that when spring comes all the bees are in one box. For me that tells me everything I need to know. They seem to prefer single brood box. Yes double brood box makes it easier to not have to check them every week, but they store a lot of unnecessary honey in those two boxes. On top of everything, you can make more honey with single brood management, contrary to popular opinion. So saying all that I do single brood management lol
