They can-we just make sure to only give a hive enough of a pollen patty that they can eat in about 7 days. Or, we use one of our screen patty trays that keeps the patty lifted off the top bars.

What do you do with your internal feeder during the winter? Do you leave it?

I enjoy your videos. Thanks. My question is I have 9 double medium brood boxes on each hive. When I harvested my honey I left a 9 frame box of honey on each hive. Wondering if I should leave them on during the winter? Thanks in advance.

Good question! As long as the box is 25% full of bees, I'd leave it.

why dont you use your screened patty trays?
@thebeesupply3 ай бұрын
Good question.:) For Stan's Sugar Bricks, I always use the screen tray. For pollen patties, I usually just use them if I have a reason to be concerned about SHBs.

When will you stop treating with Apiguard in our area? I know it can shut the queens laying down some.
@thebeesupply3 ай бұрын
Usually once the bees start clustering (so daytime temps in the mid 50s) it stops working very well.
@jamesbarron12023 ай бұрын
@@thebeesupply it also causes the Queen to stop laying. That was my concern before the cold hits and she’s laying the over wintering bees.

Okay, the elephant in the room is...if you have 30K hives and you're feeding a full pattie/2 per month. how are you still in business with this economy/global pollen Pattie prices ... or even just pollen prices?

When hives are healthy and managed they will make plenty of honey money
@thebeesupply3 ай бұрын
It's just 2x per month for a few months- not year around. And, we get much cheaper prices by the semi load.:) Overall, it's very low on the list of expenses and we see a great return by having better/stronger/more productive hives for the next year.

My colonies have way too much pollen most of 2-3 frames in a single or double box and I don’t know where to put it, come take some lol
