Its not all about power, this gun may be shipped out running at 8oo+ fps , but if it was wound back to 550 fps (sub 12ftlbs) you would find the accuracy improves way past the 25 yards. I had a qb78 converted to hpa and sub 12 ftlbs (10.2 ftlbs) produce 5p groups all day at 25 yards

I solved the probe problem with a different o-ring [3x1] metric also while I had the gun apart I filed many of the sharp points where it might hit. Also filed other areas that affect the barrel O-rings, and any place that seamed sharp. Barrel O-rings were trashed too [R-05 = 10x1.5 standard]. Even seams a bit quieter, it's late so not sure about any change to accuracy or fps.

The pcp market is responding, and as a result, there are such guns, as this one being reviewed, that are hitting the right price point, with the performance and quality to match. I just score me a LNIB.177 Xisico Sentry pcp, which can sling a H&N 16 grain Rabbit Magnum at 900 fps, for eight shots, and it cost me only 225, shipped!

Hey guys if you could get off of the downer train for a moment and think about a couple of things you might come away from this rifle with a different Outlook. First of all, when you compare it to its primary competition, the Benjamin Maximus, you will notice a couple of very significant differences. This QB chief has an all-metal trigger and trigger assembly and is two-stage adjustable down to 1.25 pounds. The Maximus has an all plastic trigger assembly and is one stage non-adjustable. furthermore the Maximus has a lightweight Hollow plastic stock whereas this has an all wood ambidextrous stock. the simple fact is that not everything that comes out of China is pure junk. I own more rifles and pistols than I can count and have Lee ignited my love for air rifles and pistols about 10 years ago. The qb78 which this rifle is based on is one of the funnest and most accurate air rifles that I have in my whole collection. it costs about $125 to convert a qb78 over to compressed air, or PCP operation, and you still only achieve about 1100 PSI in the tank. From the KZbin reviews you are still only able to achieve 800 ft per second and far fewer shots than you have with this rifle for a current $179. holy, watch the reviews on the Benjamin Maximus and what you will find is that the bolt jumps upon firing just like this one does and no one in the comments is crying or complaining about it. As of today Pyramyd Air has only one Kilby Chief left in stock and I will be ordering it tomorrow for my son. this will make about 10 rifles that I have ordered from Pyramyd Air. You don't have to apologize to any of these KZbin Rifleman wannabees Rick. if any of them owned a qb78 or even if they had shot one of their friends, they would know the quality of these neat little rifles and many of us have been waiting for a PCP version to come out!
@AirGunWeb7 жыл бұрын
Hey there Ross. Thanks for the email. You are seeing al the same things that I'm seeing. There is a reason the QB78 continues to be a huge seller for Beeman / Marksman (or Industry Brand if you want to nitpick about branding). It's always been a great value and starting platform for air gunners. The QB Chief simply takes what they had and elevates it to a great little starter PCP at a staggeringly low price point. Cheers AGW

Hey Rick? This is just a curiosity question that has two parts; 1) can the traditional sights come off? and 2) Do you think the after market suppressor that is made of the Discovery would fit on this air gun? The only reason i ask this is because of the similarity in the two.
@AirGunWeb7 жыл бұрын
You can remove the sights if you want.. No the diso break will not work. The OD on the barrel is larger than that of the disco. I believe TKO22.com will have a slide on break that will fit this gun. cheers AGW

Umarex makes a muzzle break for the hammereli for $36-ish. If the barrel diameter is the same as a qb78d (15mm) then it will fit. Just put some tape over the holes and all you will hear is the hammer hitting the valve. I used camo duct tape.

I recently purchased this rifle and I have to back rick on this. It is not optimum that the bolt pops up but it does not affect performance. It appears the problem is that the o-ring at the breech end of the bolt is to small it slides too easily in the breech BUT...... here is a 39 shot string using rws super mag 9.3 wadcutters. 1. 889 2000 PSI 2. 896 3. 892 4. 899 5. 882 6. 895 7. 897 8. 890 9. 906 10. 916 AVG 896.2 FPE 16.58 STD DEVIATION 8.98 11. 911 1800 PSI 12. 905 13. 908 14. 912 15. 908 16. 910 17. 909 1700 PSI 18. 912 19. 908 20. 905 AVG 908.8 FPE 17.05 STD DEVIATION 2.4 21. 903 22. 896 23. 891 1600 PSI 24. 888 25. 889 26. 881 27. 879 1400 PSI 28. 875 29. 872 30. 864 AVG 883.8 FPE 16.13 31. 858 1200 PSI 32. 850 33. 845 34. 843 35. 836 36. 831 37. 827 38. 818 39. 813 1000 PSI AVG 835.6 FPE 14.42 TOTAL AVG 881.1 TOTAL AVG FPE 16.03 as you can see after the first 10 shots 1800 psi the fps rises this means the hammer spring is a little weak for 2000 psi but not bad. With my left eye closed and right eye looking through the scope I cant even tell its happening I have to watch for it to happen. I plan on fixing this by putting a slightly larger oring on the bolt, at least that will be my first attempt to fix the problem, and I intend on shimming the hammer spring just a bit. this gun is accurate, especially with the rws supermag feildline waddcutters. at 20yrds I shot a 0.517" group. I have a plethora of pellets to choose from and these work awesome in this gun. it will shoot 16 grains at about 670 FPS. This is a great gun for the price it is made in china, but if you expect german quality at $180 your a goon. Right now until 7/6 you can get it even cheaper from pyramid with coupon code FREEDOM-17. The bolt jump thing has not bothered me when shooting. I got these numbers and the 0.517 group with the gun straight out of the box no barrel cleaning nothing. The trigger at least the way from the factory doesn't feel 2 stage it has a long creep. I am going to adjust it when I take the gun apart. I am only going to fix the problem because I know I can. I am not affiliated with anyone I have spent about $5000 with pyramid air over the years not the other way around lol. I own the beeman qb chief,a highly modified prod, a Sumatra 2500 in .25, a Diana rws 48, a sig mcx pellet gun that costs more than the QB and I would rather have the QB, also a Sheridan silver streak I bought in the 80's before the Crossman buy out. I also own a colt .380 pocket pistol, a canik 9mm, a browning A5 12 gauge, a marlin 30-30, a marlin .22 magnum rifle, an h&r 20 gauge, a highly modified ruger 10/22 target rifle, and others I load my own ammo and make my own mods ive been an airgun enthusiast for many years. I have a 6000 psi nitrogen tank, I fill a 74 cu ft air venturi tank with it and then fill my guns. I have put about 500 rounds through this beeman qb chief and have never felt it to be unsafe the bolt doesn't come back its just loose fitting and pops up some during the shot. Should it do this NO. Is it a big deal NO. For a pcp at $180 or less you cant go wrong you can leave it how it is or attempt repair, once I have a full proof fix I will share it. I believe a tighter fitting oring and maybe a heavier bolt handle will fix this no big deal. DONT LET PEOPLES NEGATIVE COMMENTS KEEP YOU FROM BUYING A GOOD ENTRY LEVEL PCP THAT CAN BE EASIER FILLED WITH A HAND PUMP THAN MOST DUE TO THE LOWER PRESSURE AND SIZE.

Tim, I've not had any issues with mine.. the first look video was it right out of the box. Between that video and this video I pulled the scope and checked the screws on the gun as I had noticed that the barrel seemed to be slightly off center. (no effect to accuracy as you can see from the first video.) I loosened the barrel band and the barrel set screw. I tightened the barrel set screw in the breach and then re-installed the barrel band. Zero issues with any of it. Typical maintenance that you have with these guns. Not sure why others have had problems. But, they've probably moved a few hundred of these so if there's only been a couple of issues, that's not a bad track record. There are always going to be some issues with a new roll out. I know personally that Beeman is working to continue to develop and improve the product. They are in this for the long term. Cheers AGW
@ElmarDylong7 жыл бұрын
Every movement in gun parts while shooting affects accuracy, maybe just not notable. There is a reason behind blueprinting and accurizing e.g. bolt action rifles. Is there a way to stop it from doing this? My Brno Tau 200 never did this and at 10 meters it was stacking pellet on pellet, even at 25 meters it made just a ragged hole, nothing I can see the QB Chief capable of. I don't want to talk it down, but it is just to nice of a rifle to be not able to do this.
@mikec80866 жыл бұрын
The bolt on my .303 Lee Enfield wigles like that when firing, there is no danger with a loose bolt as well as negligible effects, if any, to accuracy.
