Card shops definitely open their wholesale packs to sell individual cards. Also, +10% is of the price at the time you press the button, not the market price, so pressing it 5 times is a little over 60% over market, not 50%. ($100 times 110% = $110, times 110% = $121, times 110% = $132.10, etc.)

I got into Magic in the late 90's just before 4th edition and I thought the same thing at the time. Even though I do have some of those $1,000 cards I don't play with them that much. The new cards are way more fun to play with.
@bjackman16502Ай бұрын
Kage, when you buy the 64 pack box the full cost is $105.55 (incl S&H), the cost per pack is $1.65, if you then open the pack the cost per card is $0.235 so if you sell the individual cards for more than $0.24 per card on average you are not losing money.

You can use a work bench to sell cards in bulk but, you need at least 100 cards. Also as of right now, if you don’t have a shelf to put it on, you can softlock and the only way to get out of holding the box is to throw it away.

The benefit of buying the boxes with double the pack count is you’re only paying shipping once. If you buy two boxes of 32 packs the shipping is $10($5 each) but if you instead buy one box of 64 packs the shipping is only $5.
@SchnappiCoco127 күн бұрын
Wrong. Shipping cost is not $5 each. Minimum cost is $5, and then it varies on the amount of items you buy. His first order would have been $20 Shipping if it was $5 each, but he only payed $8. It's also $8 if you only buy 2 items, so if he bought 2 of the 64 packs, the Shipping is the same as 4 32pack. It is the better choice if you only need to fill 2 shelves tho. Then you only buy 1 64 box instead of 2 32 boxes, saving you $3. Otherwise, no, the Shipping is slightly more complex than $5 per item. 1:22 timestamp, $8 Shipping for 4 boxes.
@cyanshad27 күн бұрын
Yeah, I hadn't played that long when I made this post so i got the specifics wrong but the point is still correct. The purpose of the boxes with more cards is to save on shipping costs.
@SchnappiCoco119 күн бұрын
I fired up the game, and I noticed that you dont actually spend $8 if you buy two of the same item. You spend $5 only. So the shipping price increases when you have a variety of items, but the amount of the same item doesnt change anything. He could buy 10 of the 32 boxes, and the shipping is still $5. Done and tested. But if he buys the 32 box, and say another item, the price increases to $8. The amount of same item doesnt affect it, only when you add different items. The purpose of the larger boxes is not to save shipping cost, as the shipping is not determined by amount of items, but variety of items. Its $5 for 10 packs of 32, and its $5 if you buy 10 packs of 64. ($8 if you buy them in the same purchase, because your order consists of 2 different items) The point of the larger boxes is for storing, as shelves has a finite amount of space. And its also a timesaver when restocking since you only have to pick up 1 box of 64, instead of 2 boxes of 32. Less time walking between shelves, storage and garbage. Same goes for boosterpacks (4 or 8 in a box). Point is, bigger boxes changes nothing when it comes to shipping. At least in previous versions, and current. It may change in future updates. So no, your point is not correct.
@cyanshad19 күн бұрын
And there’s been how many updates and patches since I made this post? Maybe things have changed in the meantime? Since your brain is too limited to consider that a possibility and you feel the need to correct random strangers on the internet I’ll give you this one. I am 100% wrong on this and have always been. I’ll self flagellate tonight as punishment. You win. It must be nice to be you. Here is your prize… you win 100 internets.
@SchnappiCoco118 күн бұрын
Clearly you cant read... Look at my last comment, and try to use that defective brain of yours. "At least in PREVIOUS VERSIONS, AND CURRENT" God damn it doesnt matter if your comment was a "long time ago", because you were never correct to begin with. You were wrong, and instead of accepting that being wrong is OK and happens sometimes, you doubled down on the wrong statement, looked like an idiot, and then immediately started acting like a 10 year old kid with a tantrum.. And to your attempt at "there has been many updates and patches since my comment". This has the be the dumbest thing you have said so far. Your comment is NOT older than the video. And the video is the literal evidence of my statement being correct. You watched it, and still got it wrong! Clearly my brain isnt the issue, your lousy attempt at a personal attack completely backfired, and only proved that the only brain that has a limitation is yours. I won't read or reply to your next comment. All your points have been disproven, and it clear that being wrong causes a tantrum for you.

Got this the other day. Surprisingly fun and addictive. Kinda like some TCG games are cardboard crack ... this is pixel crack? An old TCG shop near me used to buy boxes, and cases sometimes, to crack open. For Magic, each box has an expected number of Mythic Rare cards, or used to, or a mythic pull rate %. I know a lot has changed in the last 5-6 years with MtG. When mixing product on shelves and what not, you may get no mythics when cracking as a store owner. A prior customer(s) might have gotten the mythics already. So you always crack new boxes. And, if you pulled the expected number of mythics from that box, you just shelve the rest of the packs. So in this game I have been buying at least one 32 pack box for me for every 3 for the store. I crack that box and if I pull a couple high value cards early I just shelve the rest. 😉 The other night I was opening a box of the Rare packs (gold packs) and pulled a card worth $2700, then the very next pack I pulled a $700 and $500 in the same pack. I shelved the rest, no need to keep cracking at that point lol. I have a lot of $5 and under cards right now. But I am sure there is a way to sell the commons and bulk cards.

I did not see it in the comments but every card you own personally and sell on the shelf takes away from the cards you have collected when you open the book. I assume there is some achievement for collecting all of them. I guess selling only if you have more than 1 of those cards is suggested.

Kage I dont know if you noticed but when you were marking the cards up 50% then hit the round button one of the cards went from 1.30 then after round 1.00. Time stamp 31:11. What if you hit market price, then round, then up the 10%. I'm thinking if it's under .50 then it rounds down over .50 it rounds up. Something to look into.

Card shops do open card packs. Now the big thing is they are using CT scanners to see if there are any high-end patched cards inside the boxes. Before they even open a box. So if you buy cards looking for the 1 of 1 patch card it is best to buy straight from the factory like Panini not from a card shop.

@CrimsonEnvecАй бұрын
I have found that if you set the price just below the market value, they sell incredibly fast. You end up making more money because you're going through so so much volume but the big part and the reason why you want to do this early now later sets. You don't have to worry about it so much, but you almost get doubled to triple the XP than you would get if you sold them at the higher market value
