My guess is rich family. He went to the french international lycee in ethiopia (expensive private school), and his dad is or was in the Ethiopian military (he said he's from a "military family"). Seems likely that he's at least got his foothold in nyc (apartment, bills etc, at least at first)e and funding for his earlier outfits/pieces from family money. Maybe he's getting work as a stylist or w/ever now (he does seem to get sent some free balenci now), but you have to wonder where he got the money for e.g. the LV ski suit 3 years ago when he wasn't well known, living in nyc as a young creative 🤔 The fact that he gives incredibly long winded speeches about "haters" and "pocket watching" whenever anyone asks what he does for money when he's live on insta is also pretty suspicious 😂. That said he did seem to imply he once sold drugs (or some type of legally questionable "hustling" that involved being in a car all day), so maybe he just has thousands upon thousands of dollars in illicit cash.
