Its not just insecurity, it's colorism that shes addressing. Poor treatment and discrimination because of her shade. One example is being light skinned helps with opportunity in the entertainment industry unfortunately. Even Beyonces dad admitted that Beyonces light skinned helped her success

My dark skinned friends have expressed a lot of pain about these exact same type of experiences and described how common they are throughout their lives, and how it comes not just from white folks but colorism is strong in the black community too, which makes it even more traumatic when the hurt comes from inside the family. 😢
