Here's the extended video of all the footage I took of a swarm moving into my hive almost immediately after I placed it on the table. www.savebeesflorida.com

See them fanning with their butts up in the air? There is a small pheromone on the tip of their rear that tells the others "this is home."

Curtain of bees, hanging off the table edge. Astonishing, how they can do that!

Nice swarm size and the queen loved the "Pat Palace"!

Kenneth Blair - yes sir, they are doing very well right now at the moment. I have given them some extra supplies to shore them up and keep them in place, LOL.

Karen Eaton - thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment! There are so many other options people could be doing at this point with television and all the things on the internet and even reading books and jobs/chores. So I appreciate you taking the time to watch this.

Gosh, I know that was exciting for you. It was cool seeing that they approved of your real estate. Did you know how long they’d waited for the scouts to find a place? I read that it can take 1-2 days before they move into a new home. How close to the swarm had you put the box? Sorry to ask these questions two years after you posted. I just started watching honeybee videos a few days ago.

I don't know if it has something to do with the video frame rate or something, but it looks like a lot of the bees are beating their wings in unison.
@CopiousDoinksLLC3 жыл бұрын
It's got to do with the camera's shutter speed. The bees beat their wings at a faster rate than the camera can record and the camera only records a single frame every 1/60 of a second, so that means that the bees' wings will either appear to be open or closed in unison on that single frame.

Would it be beneficial to have some sugar water nearby to start the colony off right? Oh, and getting a wild swarm of bees to your hive is something money can't buy. It's one of those accomplishments that would make one feel so good and the effort involved just pays off......

Was there more than one queen? I have had three in a swarm before. I never tire of seeing this.

What induced them to enter the hive box if the queen was outside?
@TheBeeRescuer3 жыл бұрын
There were former bee smells in that hive, and they took to it immediately.

Great video. Hi from Belarus bee's forests!In our apiary, a big problem is the tits in winter, which disturb the bees. These tits lure the bees out of the hives to feast on! We put boards or pine branches to close the entrances from birds. Do you have birds problem?
@TheBeeRescuer3 жыл бұрын
I don't have any bird problems here in Lakeland, Florida. But there could be problems in other parts of the state or the country. That's a shame you are having to deal with that.

Your camera skills leaves a lot to be desired. Being as close as you are to the bees you are moving the camera way too fast which makes it a blur.
