At a quarter of the price of an original Neumann U87, Aussie company BeesNeez offers up a clone built to the exact specs: BeesNeez BU87i C. While not featuring all the bells and whistles - cardioid polar pattern only, no pad or filter - it clones the more revered of the U87s, the U87i not the newer U87i A. I picked up a BeesNeez Elly (K47 FET) this year and couldn't be happier with it. It's now my go to mic for vocals. I may have to consider their BU87i next, but I also covet their Lulu KM54 tube mics. So many good products.

Beautiful mics, got one on the way. Shame about the loud back tracks and rather distant material here. Maybe some closer mic voiceover style next time to make any differences easier to hear plus...downloadable files ;)

According to me the original Neuman sounds mucht better. More clarity and details, no emphasis of the bass and cristal trebles for exemple listen to the E D ostinato of the guitar the difference is there. I downloaded the file and made a A-B listening of small fragments to compare.

I think GTZ U 87 will be better than B 87I.
