Easily my favest rendition of this charming sonata. Both the interpretation by two great ones as well the audio recording are wonderful. I tried Richter/Rostropvich, Argerich/Maisky, all great interpretations no doubt I like, but this is my favest. Thx for this wonderful upload! ❤❤

The Empathy and the Chemistry between these two performers are impressive. What a fragrant Cello sonata with delightful intonation and beauty.

Berrnt Ortner I had the vinyl ( When I was a young man ) , the vinyls, with the five cello - piano sonatas by these performers, and I also fell in LOVE specially with this first sonata. It seems me incredible then that this work was relativly not much known.

@@meredith218461 yes, but your sentence was in English, so you should use the English plural, which is tempos if u didnt know. I'm only here to help. Got to go now; i'm going to the shop to comprare della pasta.

14:55 WHOA it's crazy how similar this is to the beginning of Beethoven's 9th piano sonata!!! scales degrees 5 up a fourth to 1, then 6 up to 2, then 7 to 5... same harmonic progression beneath them, same rhythm of melody (lower note of tetrachord on beat 1, upper note on beat 3) The piano sonata is in E, this is in F, there's no way this is an accident. He must have wanted to keep going with it.

He did a string-quartet version of that piano sonata, in... F!

A wonderful document of the early collaboration of these two great artists captured in a live setting! Unfortunately the camera work is often showing its ineptness by not following the musical lines and focusing on a wrong partner at a given time, which can be quite frustrating to watch!
