Beethoven - Sonata no 29 opus 106 in Bb - Hammerklavier
0:04 - 1st movement - Allegro
10:36 - 2nd movement - Scherzo - Allegro assai
13:11- 3rd movement - Adagio sostenuto - Appassionato e con molto sentimento

it may not look such to novices but this genuinely one of the most technically and musically difficult pieces written on piano, even more so than most of chopin and liszt's works. both richter of the old days and valentina lilista of modern times comfirmed this.

@@WasiulWahid-ot7cjmost of Liszts pieces imo (just from a professional composers perspective) are more easier than Chopins….of course there are exceptions here and there, but Chopin requires much more technical and expressive understanding than Liszt.

I am highly impressed by your recording. Beethoven's monumental Hammerklavier sonata, about which he said that "No one will be able to play it in next 50 years". Btw when I hear this pasage 20:15 - 22:37 I always say that it is one of the most beautiful moments in whole music history. But You did something that only few people were able to do! Even though it's so long, it sounded very clean without any big mistakes. You shall be proud of this one!

I actually think it's kind of funny that Beethoven sonatas aren't that popular, especially the Hammerklavier, which is tediously long to listen to and painfully difficult to play, so I never thought it would beat the algorithm! Hahaha, anyway, I'm so glad so many people recognized you!

Wonderful video! Just curious - Why a left hand crossover for that infamous first note in the first movement?
@PriceLesS-nf1zd
@PriceLesS-nf1zd 8 ай бұрын
Thank you !! 🙏 😊 🎶 2 reasons for the left hand crossover: the first is that it allows you to play the bottom Bb with more power than the 5th finger of the left hand. The second is that it’s easier 😉 When you start playing this piece there’s a high risk, for me anyway, of fumbling at least one of those leaps in the 1st movement - this gives you a bit of much needed confidence when starting this sonata…

Just curious, how difficult is this in comparison to Liszt sonata in b minor?
@PriceLesS-nf1zd
@PriceLesS-nf1zd 8 ай бұрын
That’s a very good question. Liszt B minor sonata is certainly more outwardly virtuosic and needs some serious technique to perform, but the Hammerklavier has quite a lot of awkward passages and in my opinion is harder to grasp musically, as well as the stamina required to perform it live. But both very challenging pieces to play…
