Vielen Dank!

I decided a month ago that it was time to finish this sonata. I think you practically covered the most important things to get through the movement since it repeats a lot with slights variations. Probably another good advice for someone who will start to learn it would be to start studying it from the end. The movement is very long and you need to build the necessary stamina to get through and also to memorize it extremely well. Also, the end is probably one of the most difficult parts or the most difficult one of the movement. You definitely wanna to sound great after getting depressed, give a little hope and release the whole storm with this movement. FYI you have worked pretty well your trills, but I am not sure if musically fits better when reaching a tempo where you are clustering too many notes. I think is better to practice less notes and possibly add a couple of notes after you have built some of the strength to play with those fingers. I find more convenient to release the octave, even if your hand is big enough to hold while trilling. You can barely notice you have released the octave, the tempo is very fast and musically you gain nothing.

Yes I actually agree with you on the trill and releasing the octave. Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻

Very helpful. I"ve been working on the piece for some time, the parts you discussed were exactly the parts I was having the most difficulty with...particularly the trills on octaves. I will try using the 3/4 for the trill rather than 4/5. The second trill is more difficult for me. Thank you!

What a coincidence, I made a comment 4 days ago on your video "EFFECTIVE ways to PRACTICE ARPEGGIOS on the PIANO" about the difficulty of the arpeggios at the end of the moonlight sonata and now I get a detailed answer. Thank you very much! At the start of this piece, You play the staccato with the left hand between 5 and 2. On my score it is written between 3 and 1 and from the 5th bar between 4 and 1. I think your method is better, but it will be very difficult to unlearn something that I have been playing that way for 2 years.
Жыл бұрын
Sometimes, a new fingering can be the exact change you need. Slow practice helps with re-learning fingerings. Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏻

@ Thanks a lot for the tips. I started with the refingering and see that my hands are in a better position for the next bars. IOt is indeed the change I need. Unbelievable that a wrong fingering was noted on my score. I wish you a good time in South Africa!

I understand now how to plan my hand mvt. a millisecond before the next block- it’s crucial to do this for the overall velocity isn’t it.? I really enjoy watching your hands at work as much as listening to you play. 😊 I

Thanks for sharing! I recently memorized this piece but was unable to speed it up. I will try your tips :) Another place I feel difficult is the chord added in the beginning of the arpeggios when repeats (bar 65). I keep pressing the wrong key during these fast jumps 😂

Thank you for sharing your way to praxis. I played the Moonlight Sonata years ago, but I could only play the third movement at a speed about 120. As I remember it should be played at 160. Maybe I should go back to it, and try your exercises on it?

Yes give it another try! 💪🏻 thanks for watching 🙏🏻

That repeated c# the last two arpeggios are tough. You're jumping from 5th to 1st finger. And it's easy for the 3, 4, 5 fingers to collapse. Can't figure that bit out other than pure velocity.

A difficulty that is little discussed in the lessons dealing with this piece is the pedaling. There are only a few notes in the score itself when pedaling should be used. Does this mean that one is not allowed to use the pedal for the rest of the piece? When one has mastered this piece after a long period of practice, it turns out that "over pedaling" is sometimes used to mask the imperfections.
Жыл бұрын
I would say that using the pedal is necessary but would definitely agree with you that there is a big danger of over pedaling in order to mask insecurities.

What's in a name? If you're gonna have a name, it may as well be a name worth remembering. Danae, you've got one of the best.😁❤️ "Danae was the daughter of Acrisius and Aganippe. A prophecy about her said that the child she bore would kill Acrisius, and Acrisius, fearing this, shut her in a stone-walled prison. But Jove [Zeus], changing into a shower of gold, lay with Danae, and from this embrace Perseus was born In Greek mythology, Perseus is the legendary founder of Mycenae and of the Perseid dynasty. He was, alongside Cadmus and Bellerophon, the greatest Greek hero and slayer of monsters before the days of Heracles. He beheaded the Gorgon Medusa for Polydectes and saved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus.
