Although other 30 seconds of music, such as variation 18 of Rachmaninoff/Paganini rhapsody on a theme hits me harder with emotion than this and variation 11 of liszt/paganini etude 6 is beyond the definition of epic, this just is simply the best.

+Christopher Sharp Haha, actually... Beethoven wrote the Emperor concerto while being attacked by Napolean's army. He had to hide in a basement and composed this masterpiece under such scary circumstances, which is really remarkable when you think about it. His hearing was deteriorating and those canons weren't doing him any favours, so he was frightened that he would be completely deaf at the end of the siege. Something remarkable also happened to Beethoven that he obviously had in mind while composing the second movement... true love, yay! His 'Immortal Beloved' showed up in his life around this time, and you can hear the love in this music from it. :) Sooo Romanitc!!!

I think the most beautiful part is toward the end...the rhythm, the instruments, everything...feel like a soul actually breathing. I’ve never heard anything so deep and intimate. I also love the way this is done with Christoph Eschenbach & Lang Lang.

The majority of time when I read comments on different genres of music, be it Rock, Metal, Rap, whatever, there are at least a handful of nasty, hateful comments. When I read the comments on classical music, they make me feel loved. Thank you kind souls.

Think about this, you knew from the very first time, your very first listen that this was special and almost indescribable. You want every single person on the earth to just sit in a comfortable chair with their eyes closed and wearing a great set of headphones and just listen. I feel like I'm one of the lucky ones who can appreciate this and wish every single living soul could hear it at least once.

One of the most beautiful and soulful pieces of music I know of. It is the manifestation of love. An esoteric and ethereal concept of life itself. Quiet moving peaceful and replete with deep tones of sadness. As a dying patient of mine said. It is heavenly and divine.

The difference between Beethoven and Mozart is that while Mozart helped you hear the complexities of music, Beethoven helped you FEEL them. Beethoven was able to construct melody upon melody and build themes unlike Mozart was able to. Mozart had some of the most developed and ingenious pieces ever put to writing, however Beethoven’s thematic prowess is unmatched. In my humble opinion, Ludwig van Beethoven was and always will be the single greatest musical mind that ever walked the Earth.
