Una verdadera joya oculta tras las obras más conicidas y difundidas

Outrageous of Lincoln Center not to credit those two distinguished musicians Robison and Laredo by name. But unlike "Perlam", they were never on The Tonight Show, so it figures...

Pity Perlman didn't quite measure up polish-wise, compared to the other none-named chamber musicians...being cutesy with the bow and, at many times, rather rough sounding playing....

Were you present at the concert? Otherwise, you have only heard the RECORDING of this performance. Recorded sound and the actual sound produced may often be two different things. It is notoriously difficult to register the sound of the violin. This is a lousy recording of a fine performance. Even the viola sounds scratchy in higher notes. Cannot be used to judge the quality of the artists, or at least not of any finer aspects. Anyhow, moving away a little from the speakers to reduce grittiness leaves us with this absolutely charming Beethoven piece in a quite appealing and proper chamber setting in the not-too-oversized Alice Tully Hall.

One can make lots of excuses as to why something sounds this way or that...or maybe this musician had too much cream in their coffee before a performance, I judge based on what is presented here....just BECAUSE someone has the big name doesn't mean they 'fit' correctly or measure up with the others in any particular ensemble.@@FranckSonata
