The first movement is way too fast. The good thing is she unveils some the piece's hidden melodies
@Tore_Lund4 жыл бұрын
@@therealconniefrancis I was going to say this is unusual slower than I expected her to play it. But she picks up tempo later. I think a lot of Beethoven is played too slow in general. Remember his was a student of Mozart, and contemporary composers also wrote fast sonatas. The piece suddenly opens up and you hear some Liszt and Chopin in it! Playing Beethoven slowly bring its own set of problems, the fingering becomes a case of perfect timing and you get some strange Bossa Nova rhythms into it, to get your timing right.

My father would monetarily encourage me to practice and would tell me " I'll will give you $2.00 if you lean a this piece." So I would practice and practice until I was ready to play the piece for him. When I was ready he would listen. And the said "Well that was only work $1.80. So I would say "I'll take it" and go out with my friends. I loved to play but that was an added bonus that encouraged me to practice.

The way she transitions from phrase to phrase has finally relieved me of that grating sense some notable pianists have left me with--that this piece was badly written. Now I have proof that those others simply didn't understand it.
