I'm a strong adept to this hr-sinfonieorchester; I've followed it since Paavo's last season, during Andrés' tenure (as a proud Colombian and music aficionado) and now with Alain A. This a genuine orchestra with a solid and serene standing in the musical world, with wonderful world-class musicians and the most impressive ability to make decisions that have risen its quality and performance to a clear undisputed top tier. This quintet is living proof. The quality of its videos deserves a separate mention. Thank you to the engineers and technicians of the Hessicher Rundfunk for their outstanding job, and to the people of the Bundesland Hesse for sharing this with the rest of us.

Some of Beethoven's best music in 1801, the date of this absolutely sublime quintet. That was about the time of the Moonlight and Pastoral Sonatas, the Second Symphony, the Third Piano Concerto. It was a transitional period in Beethoven's composing as his music became more personal and Romantically inspired. Noteworthy in the fourth movement is the repeated occurrence of the " '50s progression", a harmonic pattern sequence of I-vi-IV-V chords, so-called because the progression became a musical cliche in American pop music, especially doo-wop and folk songs, in the years 1954-63.

Nos hemos concentrado mucho en los cuartetos beethovenianos. Es necesario retomar toda su música de cámara. Este quinteto vuela muy alto, lejos del clasicismo precedente de igual manera que las primeras sinfonías, muy separado de Haydn y Mozart. Grandioso!!! Y los músicos brillan en su interpretación. Wunderschöne und detaillierte Aufführung dieses perfekt komponierten Streichquintetts in verschiedenen Tempi mit seidigen Tönen beider Violinen, milden Tönen beider Bratschen und tiefem Ton des Violoncellos. Der zweite Satz klingt besonders schön und echt nuanciert. Die intime und perfekt entsprechende Miteinanderwirkung zwischen den fünf Virtuosen ist wahrhaft bewundernswert. Alles ist wundervoll!

ベートーヴェンさんの唯一のオリジナル弦楽五重奏曲。 弦楽四重奏にヴィオラ追加。 2012映画「A Late Quartet」で、第二ヴァイオリンの人が第一ヴァイオリンをやりたがっているのが印象的だった。 「役割固定されてたんだ」って演奏家さんの気持ちきいて新鮮だった。 ヴァイオリンを十把一絡げにみてました。 ヴィオラとの区別もちゃんとついてないけど。 銅とかとニッケルの合金で銀の代用あるある。 フルートとか管楽器。 作曲家さんが楽器ごとに音や旋律の役割を振り分けるのは、何となく想像つくけど、わざわざ第一ヴァイオリンじゃなくて第二ヴァイオリンの役割を引き受ける人はどんな着眼で選択したのかな？

Constant camera movement is distracting and usually has nothing to do with the music. Typical of the way classical concerts are filmed, unfortunately.
