This is the most beautiful version of Beethoven violin concerto.
This is probably equivalent to a (serious) version of PDQ Bach

Ban the conventional renditions out of your mind and listen to the ingeniousness of Gitlis.

One has to throw out every conventional thinking and listening experience. Ivry has always had his completely free spirited way of thinking and playing…..the time I spend with him was one of the most fruitful in my artistic life. He is unique out of the box and never boring…..personally and in playing…. Beethoven was always particularly difficult for him because it is in a way a very particularly closely restricted stylistically but he loved it deeply ………enjoy and listen to the golden pristine, disturbing, pure and so satisfyingly sweet sound coming always directly from Ivry’s Heart.

I love many of Gitlis' performances. But the accents and lengthening the first note on every entrance at the beginning of the solo part don't work for me here.

what about part 1 ?

Would someone please explain to me why Gitlis is such a cult figure among violinists? He strikes me as erratic to the point of caricature. I'm not talking about the fact that he is elderly here and that his is tone and intonation suffer. That was true of Stern and Menuhin as they aged as well. But this is something different. The guy strikes me as simply not serious. This is not a rhetorical question - I'm asking because I really want to understand what people see in him that I might be missing. Please write a reply rather than up or down voting. I'm asking a question, not making a statement.

So you have so much respect for Bethoven that you will never touch it. I know this kind of people like you.Very political and thinking about themselves that are very special. I mean , shit.

You are the poor, you prefer sanitized fast food to gastronomy, how dare you to pass judgment in the face of the genius of Ivry Gitlis, to this unique career? Beethoven said: "I like a tree better than a man, you are the man. Look at Elgar, Saint-Saëns, Paganini, or the same version of Beethoven by all the current violinists, after, you will speak. look forward to hearing from you. And clean your turntable with Dettol.
