I can only make assumptions BUT this is what I think. They got the checklist completed for a perfect sequel. The two characters that matter, Lydia and Beetlejuice are back and their OG actors are playing them. Tim Burton is at the director helm. Master of creepy. Love him. Fourth: Viv is on makeup and costume. She was the one who created the Beetlejuice look. Lastly and this is key: any hope for a good sequel has to follow the original logic. So, the story has to start with a death. I’m guessing Vegas money, it’s Lydia’s dad.

Im actually glad he said something new instead of playing on old nostalgia. One of the failings of Aladdin 2: Return of Jafar back in the day was they kinda rehashed the same jokes... Always keep comesy fresh and entertaining and never censor because your afraid to offend. Otherwise we never would have even gotten Yo Momma jokes.🎉

Well, remember that Beetlejuice is called only to take care of possessions-related cases - he is a freelance "bio-exorcist" after all. So, the real question is who died and came back as a ghost? My money is on Lydia. Jenna is her daughter, and Lydia must protect her from Beetlejuice.

There was a death at the beginning of the first Beetlejuice as well. I could be wrong but maybe Lydia hopes to make a connection with her dad by going back to the house. She did spend time with ghosts before. But when he’s not there, she wants to know where he is.. would she chance calling Beetlejuice for that? I suppose it depends on how worried she is and how much she wants to know where her dad is in his afterlife.

Jenna Ortega is playing Lydia's Daughter. So that's three generations of Deetz Women we're seeing in that panning shot at the funeral. Also you don't see the men because they're kinda not good people so they weren't asked back. Also also, I think the funeral is for Lydia's Father as a way to write him out of the story because, again, not a good person.

It is Charles that passed away. If you look at the scene with the priest and children, as the camera pans in you can see a picture of him, its a quick shot so look closely
