It was nearly called "House Ghosts", mostly being about Adam and Barbara. I would want a movie to explain how Beetlejuice and Lydia got closer or a movie to continue the cartoon or how Beetlejuice tries to stop Lydia from marrying someone else. Tim Burton nearly made that mistake *Beetlejuice goes Hawaiian* to happen. However, Warren Skaaren (the writer for Beetlejuice cartoon), wrote *Beetlejuice in love* before he passed away in 1990. According to its draft date, *Beetlejuice in Love* is believed to be the last screenplay he wrote before his death. That script still exists exposed at a museum. Tim Burton can use it for Beetlejuice 2. That man didn't write it for nothing.

It's why the caseworker, Juno, quickly stops the Maitlands from saying his name even once; it makes it more likely for the unwitting to summon him accidentally.

There are so many talented animators online nowadays, and this show has so, so, SO much potential for creative visuals! I completely agree Chloe Stout, but no shade to any of the staff that would work on it. It’s near impossible to recreate a show and keep all the things that once made it good, especially with something that is over 20 years old. But it would be pretty dope if they could ump up the colors or something and put it in a marathon once in a while. However if they could get some of the original creators or heck Tim Burton on it, they could sort of do what they did with Invader Zim where they made a movie from it instead of a full running TV show. That’s just my opinion, and that doesn’t mean that a good reboot isn’t possible!

In the movie they were pronounced husband and wife, so they are married. I did post the full episode Spooky-Boo-Tique but got upset after someone disliked it and didn't appreciate my efforts, so I deleted it. So...how exactly does saying his name work? Is it only if you say it three times in a row? Because Lydia says it twice in between her sentences without harm, but accidentally says it three times in a row and banishes him - yet Claire says it three times in between saying other things and it brings him back. Then again, I suppose there's no point expecting any definite rules on such things - as he himself says in the movie "Hey, these aren't my rules. Come to think of it, I don't have any rules." xD

It's supposed to be 3 times in a row. However, in the movie Lydia said "Beetlejuice? Your name is Beetlejuice?" - Beetlejuice asked her to say his name one more time but she said she wants to talk to Barbara and Beetlejuice kept yelling "Say it !!!" so, like you said there are no rules when you summon him, as long as you say his name 3 times. This episode was from the first season. The voice actor for Beetlejuice changed his voice during the seasons too. They changed many things in the cartoon, compared to the movie. For example, Beetlejuice may smell like a corpse but not like sweat and his feet can't smell. He is dead. Other than the "corpse smell" he shouldn't have a body odor or dandruff... but cartoon logic. Beetlejuice only ate bugs because he had nothing else to eat but he did wanted to serve "an italian dish' to Adam and Barbara. Beetlejuice wasn't afraid of water. He was wearing 3 wrist watches at one hand and a suit and he mentioned Valentino. So, he used to be elegant. Maybe he was elegant in the Neitherworld as well in those clothes, compared to the rags the other dead people were wearing. Not to mention that Beetlejuice chose that red wedding gown for Lydia. So he had taste. I agree. Beetlejuice doesn't have any rules and neither does this cartoon.

Per _Farmer & the Smell_ (where Lydia goes to visit her country uncle & aunt, with "Mr. Beetleman" showing up as a surprise farmhand claiming to enjoy hard, menial labor [Pffst! As if. He clearly did it just to be near Lydia, since he's...bonded to her, in a manner of speaking.] meanwhile phoning in/pretending to do generic typical farming chores [Most of the work he barely did, if he did it at all, however attempting to milk the cow got him kicked by the stubborn heifer, but instead of using his "juice" on the animal in retaliation, he took the hit in stride, since he's already dead & the encounter did get a genuine laugh out of an otherwise bored Lydia, who even tried to persuade her aunt & uncle to let "Mr. Beetleman" have some time off from the dregs of the job [which she clearly knew that he wasn't actively doing anyway, because Betelgeuse & hard-earned work is like him & fresh, clean water, they do not mesh well] when they offered to take her to a barn dance/hoedown/hootenanny & she personally noticed that for the first time since he appeared at the farm in his straw hat & overalls, "Mr. Beetleman" genuinely perked up, more or less thinking he'd be allowed "time off for good behavior" as they say, obviously gesturing towards Lydia that he'd love to partner with her on the dance floor, but unfortunately, Lydia's aunt & uncle wouldn't budge on granting "Mr. Beetleman" any leisure time, all on account of his well-fed lie of loving tedious, dull chores that Lydia's aunt & uncle otherwise had to do by themselves before hiring him had convinced them that he was there to do the jobs he loved, so as they said it, "There's no use a-goin' & botherin' Mr. Beetleman when he has so much work to do", even though it was painfully plainly obvious that no real work was getting done with him on the job & that he only did it to be around Lydia, despite being told by her that he cannot come with her to her aunt & uncle's to avoid them potentially finding out about their underage niece's fondness for a greasy looking fella with insects in his teeth who probably smells worse than cow pie, what with being several years dead & all, with "the whole being dead thing" being an aphrodisiac - i.e. sex stimulant - for the preteen preppy goth junior photographer, Brides of Funkenstein lead singer & occasional creepy fashion designer, per her Hot Topic-like Spooky Boutique, full of sentient Neitherworld merchandise for the unsuspecting costumers])... *Lydia* "Last time we spent time together, my parents almost got beheaded!" *Betelgeuse* "So? What's your point?" *Lydia* "We agreed then that, sometimes, we'd have be apart." *Betelgeuse* "Great! I call shinannigans. I loved this as a kid. I always wondered two things. Why can he be summoned back and forth from the Neitherworld? In the movie, we're told it's a curse. But, when he's summoned, there doesn't seem to be a limit to his power in this world. Which leads to my second question. Why is he so powerful? The other ghosts in the Netherworld, including his parents, seem mostly benign and unable to effect our world. The parents episode was funny because they kind of insinuate he was born a ghost. WTF? Someone really needs to do a biography on the character. And, I hope we get Beetlejuice 2.

The cartoon continues the movie. I made a video about it. So if we start from the original script, we get a darker version of his character. It was mentioned that Beetlejuice used to work for Juno and that only those that committed suicide worked for her. It was stated that he killed himself over a woman and that's why in the movie he tried to stop Lydia from killing herself. Lonely and misunderstood just like Lydia. I was planning on making a video comparison between the movie Beetlejuice and cartoon Beetlejuice. During the 90s, gross humor was common in kids shows. Cartoon BJ was more gross and somehow allergic to water. I will answer both questions at the same time: BJ didn't just die like normal people. He killed himself and most likely vowed to take revenge and returned as a ghoul with poltergeist activity powers and maybe even sold his soul to the devil, who knows...The red fingertips from the cartoon were made to show that he can use magic. In the episode "out of my mind" BJ said he can't help himself from pulling pranks, while the movie BJ said that he has no rules. That's why he can be summoned by saying his name 3 times either interrupted or spoken unbroken. Juno was afraid of him since he couldn't be stopped after getting summoned. Just like when you summon demons: they come but it's harder to send them back. It's a lot to talk about here. I will make a video about it. In conclusion being a poltergeist ghoul he can go through walls, mirrors etc and has access to the land of the living, Lydia's bedroom etc but needs to be summoned. However - in a cartoon episode Beetlejuice was already in Lydia's room, watching her sleep. When asked how he got there he said "you must've called me in your sleep " which is another thing here. He can either enter dreams like demons do and hear thoughts or Lydia actually called BJ in her sleep (3 times apparently, but it's less likely since BJ's face had a smirk). BJ is the only one who can do magic apparently in his world. He wanted out because he had regrets. To be honest, I'm scared that BJ 2 movie might ruin the story. Beetlejuice married Lydia in the movie, they were still married in the cartoon since Lydia is wearing the wedding ring and in first episode they celebrated a one year or more anniversary. Only that Lydia was made a 7th grader for the cartoon, being aimed at a younger audience too, which brought confusion. The preacher managed to finish the wedding ceremony since he was already pronouncing them married. If someone wanted the marriage canceled, they should've stopped it sooner. The sequel movie just shows Lydia married to someone else. Beetlejuice should return full of jealousy after his wife and Lydia's marriage to someone else would be canceled since she is married to BJ. But I'm afraid it will be a different plot since the movie is more about Lydia's daughter.
