Mine has minimal stick. It’s so minor that I don’t even notice it. The timing of the release of the button when closing will prevent the bounce. Took me a hundred flips or so to commit the timing to memory. I have not taken mine apart. Took it out of the box and put it to immediate use.
@BeezBlades3 жыл бұрын
I'm going to flip it a ton and see if the button smooths out. I've found that if I close it slower, I avoid the bounce; I've got the timing down pretty well now. I guess that's why it's first impressions hahaha. Thank you Rusty Cleave. I'm keeping an open mind!

Hey man, it will go away. The Elementum button lock uses the liner, and these use a spring. The tolerance ends up being tighter for a spring operated button lock. Mine came buttery smooth but I will be monitoring for lock rock because it did. I honestly would have preferred a tiny bit of lock stick because as it wears in there will be less likely a chance for lock rock later. Def plan to do a long term review and would love to see how yours is doing a few months later. 👍🏼

Knife newbie here, so take it for what it’s worth, but just fidgeting with mine, I have to either let go the button exactly at a specific time to get the blade to drop and stay put, or let go right off and assist with a finger to make it close. If I don’t do one of those things it’s going to bounce every time. Never had any lock stick but the blade was a bit stiff on the pivot until I loosened the screw a tiny bit. I’ll break out my tool and play with the pivot screw a little more to see if I can find a happy medium-more of a controlled drop and stop? I haven’t disassembled and cleaned yet but now that I’ve watched you I feel more confident. I will say I like the simplicity of this button lock, just the button and a spring. Seems like it won’t easily break or wear down unless the spring is inferior in some way. Now that you mention it there’s a little click when I push the button-not sure why, but it doesn’t feel sticky at all. Not sure what would cause the clicks or sticking, but maybe with that first knife it wasn’t properly aligned with the liner?

I have two of these now. The micarta is super smooth and works perfectly. I recently got an all black partial serrated model and the button would stick especially if you flipped the knife open quickly. (Hard push on the flipper) I returned it for an exchange of the same model and the replacement is great. Super smooth button operation although not as drop shut as the micarta. I'm hoping a few days of fidgeting will get it to the same level of smooth closing. I'm glad my first (micarta) was so awesome or I might not have been excited when I got the second one. All is good now though!

We both have the same but in the GRAY C/F, each have a poor finish and action. I am a bit confused on coating 14C28N. Seems unnecessary to me unless you want a murdered out as they say knife. Seems to have issues it shouldn't. I could deal with a tiny lick stick but wouldn't be happy. If the break in to get rid of the lock stick causes lock rock that is even worse. Hope you will use it for a couple of weeks to a month and see if lock stick goes away but lock rock developes. It seems a bit pricey for me especially with the issues. Sounds like they have rushed it to get it out for the holidays. I like the look of the knife. If it breaks in well and no lock rock or detent lash developes and you don't want it because of the tactical lock let me know I might be interested if the price is right. Really like the disassembly portion of the videos.

@@BeezBlades I don't know. Two years ago this would have been between 40 and 50 (Civivi was king in this range). Today, the lineup averages 60-80 it seems. how would this knife work with a left hander?
@BeezBlades2 жыл бұрын
I don't see why there would be any issues. You just use the button with your index finger. I'm not at home to check, but I don't think the button sticks out enough to be a problem.
@2873lonewolf3 жыл бұрын
Its an inherent problem with plunge style button locks. The elementum doesn't use that style button. Your first one was probably messed up, this one looks to be normal operating. It needs to break-in, sorry for the horrible excuse. It should get much better after a few hundred flips 🤦♂️ "She puts the lotion on the skin or she gets the hose again"-Buffalo Bill

2873lonewolf! Yep, people are telling me to flip it a bunch and that's what I'm going to do. I do have the closing timing down now, which is nice. Buffalo Bill - Nailed it! Thank you brother!

Hello Mr B! can we have a poke and prod test for us more tactical types. I know cutting paper is a vital part of Knife ownership.. On a serious note do you inc sales tax in your prices? If yes what % You have a great channel

Hello! Tactical paper cutting! 😂😂 The prices I name are just from the sites where you can get them. Those are the ones that I always put links to in the video description. They are not my knives. Some of the sites have free shipping, and a lot of them are Amazon links.

Got one of these on the way. Hoping it's a good one and not Chinese junk. My first non USA made knife. We'll see how it compares. I'm not very optimistic.

I have to say I'm impressed with my Cogent. Very fidget friendly and I'm not having any problems with lock stick. Super smooth action and good ergos.

I wish I woulda seen this before I ordered the Cogent. Mine is on the way, but it sounds like the action sucks on these. Was hoping it was like the button lock elementum
@RileySantiago2 жыл бұрын
Mine came with no lockstick. I noticed this knife allows you to push the button in too far, which binds the blade. Mine will drop shut if you press the button lightly.

This is kinda what I was eluding to in previous comment. Many very positive reviews yet people that actually bought them have a lot of complaints about them.

you dont feel that stick on the elementum becuase you're USING the button. Open the Cogent just like the elementum and you wont have ANY problems with lock stick

Just got one. Had to tighten pivot a tiny bit. Button action is good with a little bounce at close. It is like a manual Spyderco Autonomy 2 for much less money. G10 texture is fantasticly grippy. My fave fidgiter and a pleasant surprise.

I got 2 of these....the one in this video and the jade natural g10. They both work great but the Jade one's action is a lot smoother. They both drop shut even when tightened to the point of zero blade play. My gripe is if you depress the button lock all the way down, it puts the brakes on the blade. Something I can live with since the Malibu has all but been impossible to find. 1/3 of the price too. Have several other civivis. I know they will only keep improving. Hopefully. Also got a titanium pocket clip from Tinker Blvd on Etsy. HUGE improvement from factory CIVIVI clips which, are all pieces of total SHIT!!!! WTF is wrong with their pocket clip department? How many years will it take to show ANY sort of improvement??!!!!! Ridiculous!!!!
