Im Bulgarian and honestly that is probably one of the biggest differences between Bulgarian and Russian language. The verb "to be" , auxiliary verbs/copulas and tenses are way more important and significant in standard Bulgarian. It would be a bit hard to get used to this

Да есть это is или am. Кстати русское "Азь Есмь" перекочевало в английский как Ай Эм.. (я есть). Английский это вообще очень плохой русский, все базовые слова такие как мама, папа, сестра, брат, некоторые названия частей тела и тд. - одинаковы.

Also interesting moment: You can say: "Что такое X?", when you don't know, what is X. But. You can say "Что есть X?". This statement will be more philosophical. It means, that you know that you know the definition of X, but you want to doubt X or point at ambiguity of X. For example you can say: "Что есть жизнь?". It means, that you want to say about some philosophical definitions of life. Maybe you want to say: "Life doesn't end after death. We live, while people remember us". And you also can say: "Что такое?" without X for saying: "What happened?". Also you can say: "Что случилось?" But if you want to say "What happened yesterday/at this place?" or any other similar. You only can say: "Что случилось...?". If you need to say "What happened with him?" you can say: "Что с ним?", "Что это с ним?", "Что случилось с ним?" or "Что такое с ним?"

What about the sentence "Иногда так бывает"? In my opinion it's the verb 'to be' in the present tense. Although in English you would translate it as 'Sometimes it happens'.

yes, it can be considered as a form of present continuous tense, "бывает" - "being" for something abstract. You can say "я бываю", it's also present continuos, but , in a russian language, present continuous and present simple tenses are one form of present time, because it we don't say "я бываю", but we can say "я есть", "я существую", that means absolutely the same(in english it would be "I am", "I exist")

uhm, not exactly. такое is not translated as ''is''. такое literally means ''as such''. the full complete sentence in theory might sound like "небо? что это есть такое - небо?" "sky? what it is as such - sky?" or "sky? what it is like - sky?" but then we contracted this to: "что это такое, небо?" "what it like, sky?" "что такое небо?" "what like sky?" "what such sky?" i know in english it sounds weird and kinda illogical. but in russian it became official structure. and yeah, we kinda got rid of the verb in the sentence, but we left a non-verb instead of the verb to kinda fill in the gap after removal of the verb just to fill it in with something because something should separate "what" and "sky" so they do not merge and "what" does not become an adjacent descriptive word for "sky" but still remains the subject and something substituting the verb still remains predicate. twice weird, yep. sorry. but anyway if we try to get verb back and substitute "такое" "as such" with the verb we will inevitably sound as a robot with the phrase "что есть небо?". even if we don't add the typical robot soulless voice. just don't.

good question. 1) in sentences with "what" (ie inanimate objects) "такое" grammatically refers to "what" and changes flexions accordingly with "what" changing its flexions. "what" is always of neutral gender, thus "такое" automatically is always neutral as well. что такое солнце? sun neutral neutral neutral что такое пляж? neutral neutral masculine что такое река? neutral neutral feminine 2) now, in sentences with "who" (animate objects) "такое" refers NOT to "who". it refers to the one we're asking about and it describes him / her / it. кто такое привидение? ghost neutral neutral neutral кто такой Том? neutral masculine male кто такая Ханна? neutral feminine female

It depends. If you ask about something (as "what is it?"), then it's always "такое": 1. Что такое человек? (masculine) 2. Что такое человечество? (neuter) 3. Что такое женщина? (feminine) It's like a shorter form of a full sentence which may look like "Что такое собой представляет женщина?". If you ask about a person than it's very straight forward: 1. Кто такая Настя? (feminine) 2. Кто такой Никита? (masculine) But if you're talking about something that you know, then it depends on the noun: 1. Этот стул такой неудобный. (masculine) 2. Это кресло такое неудобное. (neuter) 3. Эта табуретка такая неудобная. (feminine)
