This area was 100% Hindu area before 1947. You correctly said that the families living in this area were very well to do. The prices of the houses slided down as you went East of Dresi Grounds. Also, it was very rare to find a house on sale in the Hindu areas. That is why my father bought his first house in Neem Wala Chowk area. Do you know the distinction between a STREET & a KUCHA? Do you know that there were house numbers before 1950? It was in 1951 when my Ludhiana was divided into BLOCKS and each house was assigned a number. My house was in BLOCK 10 and its number was 290..
