When it comes to pre- and post-surgical care, you can trust that you’re in good hands at Ozark Regional Vein & Artery Center. In this video, Dr. Christopher Stout, ORVAC vascular surgeon, explains what you can expect from surgery before and after an OBL visit in Rogers, AR.
Before your procedure at ORVAC, your provider will ask that you stop taking all blood-thinning medications. This will help you avoid excessive bleeding and swelling as you recover.
Your surgeon may also ask that you stop taking GLP-1 injections one week prior to your procedure. Because these medications slow down your GI track, they can cause you to feel sick as you recover from surgery.
Once you arrive at our office-based laboratory (OBL), your provider will prep you for surgery and start an IV in your arm. This IV will be used to put you in a twilight sleep for the duration of your procedure and is a great option for minimizing discomfort.
After your procedure, your surgeon will bring you back into a room to monitor your condition as your IV medication wears off. This is also to help ensure that no post-procedure complications arise.
Most of our patients leave our office a couple hours after their procedure, but some can leave as soon as within the hour.
Your nurse will provide you with a post-procedure care guide full of instructions to follow during your recovery. It is of utmost importance that you follow this guide and attend all follow-up ultrasound appointments so that we can monitor your recovery and progress.
When it comes to venous and arterial procedures, you can trust that our team will take good care of you before and after. OBL in Rogers, AR, is here to ensure your surgical needs are met, so visit our website or give us a call to learn more.
