I also think another thing that really kept you interested was traveling to all of the event all around the world! Having the best vacations with your friends, meeting fans, and playing a game. Since COVID ruined that, I can see how the best part that kept you loving the game being gone could make your love for the game dwindle.

Remember back in the day, when all we could do was catch Pokemon and takedown/defend gyms? We constantly had to set goals to keep the game interesting. I've always done it, because you can't depend on new material to keep things going.
@FiXato3 жыл бұрын
I do feel like the catching part was more interesting. There was more of a hunting aspect to it, especially with the 1-3 steps indicator on the nearby spawns list. Pokémon also felt more habitat-restricted, and more diverse. Areas might've had their resident Pokémon (Magnemite and Voltorb were especially prevalent here), but you could still encounter most of the others at the same time. Nowadays it feels like it's just the ones that are part of the current event. The constant stream of events is also annoying imho. There just isn't a break from the constant FOMO-feeding, and it just doesn't make the events feel special anymore.

What's missing in the game for me is the collection part of it, like completing the dex as we had been working for in gen 1 and 2. The way they release Pokemon now is just not fun anymore: Release 1 or 2 new ones during an event, throw it at everyone so much that you get enough candies for the evolutions within a few hours of playing, and never see it again after the event. There's nothing to collect this way and that does saddens me as that was one of the things I always enjoyed with any Pokemon games.

Played since the start. Stopped in June this year. Game play is such hassle. Sending 1 gift/ opening a to friends takes too long. Rubbish egg hatches. Gameplay revolving around buying remote raid passes. Trading takes too long. Plus community shot itself in foot by forcing easier gameplay that means I no longer have to leave my house for an adventure. (remote raiding, too many pokestops, increase in spawn points and increase in distance to interact) Its not the fun game it started out to be due to quality of life improvements. It used to be a challenge, it got me out the house. Now it might as well be a game on my playstation, xbox or switch as I can do everything from home. Good luck trainer tips Nick

I totally get it. I was absolutely burnt out with the game, none of my friends were playing anymore and I just wasnt enjoying playing. I told myself that I spent too much time with the game to quit outright and that I was going to get to 50 before I stopped playing. I hit 50 on Oshawott community day and honestly just not stressing about xp took so much of the weight off my shoulders and didnt make me rage so much at pokemon constantly moving when I tried to hit the excellent throws. I did it all f2p and it took FOREVER and I was prepared to quit the game after but then the level 50 research was available and things kept popping up in the game and my fomo just wouldnt let me quit. Its such a part of my life now to just open up the game and check stuff but honestly after missing so many shinies im starting to really mellow out on it and slow down. Then, like clockwork, I always find my way back to the game after a nice healthy break. Each time I come back to the game I take a more passive approach in my game play. You have to remember Nick the average person only does 1/10 of what you do So in reality These challenges to get to level 50 or a little outragious Especially when you consider the covid situation for the past 2 years

I have been thinking about quitting for a while now. The content they have been adding isn’t exciting anymore and I share your feeling of not knowing what will it take. Your content has always been more than just pokemon go and I will be here to watch it

There's 433 comments now, so maybe someone has already said this: you can advance Dragon Tamer by receiving dragons in trade. So get your trading partners to keep them for you, if that's a path you'd like to walk :)

As a casual player, I don't see myself getting to level 50... the challenges seem designed to keep casual players out of the accomplishment goals. The grind is getting old while I try to balance life and this game.

It is just nice to have the challenge there. For some it will be reaching a higher level and for others a higher PVP level and others getting the most shinys or the most hundos or the most platinum medal, etc. I like that there are many to choose from.

That’s exactly why we have these challenges and got a remote raid limit, because everyone shot up to 40 and complained it wasn’t difficult.

Missed seeing you…… Meet you in Chicago at pokey go fest. I gave you an energy bar. =) COVID definitely has taking a lot of the fun out of the game, because you can’t travel and go to events. At least you have a beautiful place to play and have many PokéStops and great weather! I’m sure there will be some events later that will put the fan back in Pokémon go. Dude, you right that walking thing was a real pain. It rob me two weeks, it made me even feel like quitting Pokémon go! I guess I had forgotten to turn adventures sink on and off. Look forward to seeing you again! Hopefully we will both reach level 50 soon!

Sometimes to plan forward you need to look back. Watching your old videos might back the motivation and help remember the passion you had. I did, and man the summer of 2016 was so special. I miss it so much.

I found the same feeling as this year went on and I could also be that I have that feeling in everyday life. The pogo gets Monotonous so I availed back a bit. Fomo kinda sucks but I skipped com day in September. It’s good to set time caps for games and do other things you enjoy. Covid didn’t help too it’s all waiting and stress and it wears on a person. Take care of you head, remember your breathing and keep in mind the life goes on and you come back to the things you love. Keep it in your back pocket but loosing joy in things it’s a tip off for depression haze creeping in and it’s ok to brake and recenter.

If you happen to stop playing pogo, I would love to see you stream videos with you and your trailer. Going on adventures, like you did with your Utah/ Zion trip. That part one and two have got me through so much. You take some really amazing footage of nature. Thanks Nick. Good luck on whatever you do.

I feel the pandemic played a obvious part of making this game less exciting. Best times watching you and others and playing myself eas planning and going a trip to possibly catch exclusive pokemon and capturing new gyms.

I understand how you feel, what burns me out is the amount of events introduced, the long community days, and the repetition.

The lure one is really easy too. If you drive up to the Santa Monica pier, ans get lucky enough to drop some on the pier mid day, you'll get it in a few hours.

With you on the sentiment of quitting, I quit after the eevee com day was announced, I feel like there is nothing really to work towards, raids, gyms, PvP, events, everything feels less gratifying and I feel like that's mostly Niantics failures.
