After believing in Jesus for more than 40years, I first heard this beautiful worship hymn in a service in an old church near Nottingham n really fell in love with lyrics n the tune.It helped me position myself at God's feet as I stood against much alienation n sometimes depression.The lyrics helped me tremendously to stay in hope n not give up

I myself hear echos of old mountain hymns my ancestors sang in Kentucky...they were, in the 1700's ,pioneers in a wild western wilderness, transplanted Englishmen and women...I love words like "thence" and "abide, abode" "sup" I learned that they were Elizabethan words and phrases...my grandmother (I am 77) said her father's parents had two books..an old leather bound King James Bible and a huge volume of Shakespeare's plays and sonnets in very small print, a magnifying glass had to be used to read its pages.... The English language brought the scriptures to a people who literally had NOT had them in their tongue...the printing press was an invention which I think was given from God as it allowed the Word to go out to the entire German and then English speaking world...Previously people were actually burned at the stake for translating the Bible into the common language! IMAGINE ! I had a professor once tell us that "without the KJV there would have NOT been Shakespeare !" I am not declaring the KJV as the only worthwhile translation, only its impact on literature and our language. This song with those quaint English words caused me to reflect and want to share all of this in a comment. Thank you for taking your time to read it. May the Lord Jesus richly bless you with His presence.

This month is so hard. My nephew took his own life, Dec. 15, 2015. I miss him so much. I wish I could have a do over of that day. Something was off when he came over to tell me that he loved me. (He lived in my guest house) He said he was going to Wal-Mart. I wish I had told him not to go. I should have said not to go. He was my first nephew. My parent's first grandchild. He was the first baby I ever held. I love him so much. Why didn't I just tell him not go?
