You know, talk of people forgetting about things after the apocalypse reminds me of the book City of Ember and the two books after. There were two groups of people that survived the war: Those that were sent into a subterranean city (the city of Ember) and those who survived on the surface and rebuilt towns. What's interesting is that those underground were unfamiliar with things like livestock, sunlight, or weather, whereas those on the surface did not remember anything regarding science, technology, and electricity. When the people of Ember came to the surface, the sunburned their pale skin and they were afraid of chickens, creatures they had never seen before. However, the people on the surface did not understand the value of lightbulbs and had forgotten how to read, and so they had a library full of books none of them could read, and so it was little more than a room where they had piled all of the books. It is interesting to see how the environment, and the fact that education becomes a limited resource, dictates what people forget.

The geometry of that planet made me feel really uncomfortable in the beginning. It's impossible to evenly cover a sphere in regular hexagons! Go and ask Euler, he can explain why that is. Surely, there's some heretical trickery and black magic involved in this. Right? And then I spotted a pentagon. Everything's fine. Phew. They're probably covering them up with conveniently placed oceans. Clever.

I'm intrigued by how they have made a sphere with only hexagons. That's not geometrically possible, you need pentagons too. They are probably hidden in strategic locations that you wouldn't be able to build on anyway like the oceans.
@daxdax334 жыл бұрын
Lovely game, I'd like to see more of it ^^
@mbpoblet4 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you can get land on the pentagonal tiles (all I've managed to spot in the video had water on them), and, if that's the case, if you can build on them... 🤔
@wojtek4p44 жыл бұрын
I imagine placing those tiles on water is the devs' solution to them being distracting and potentially quite buggy. TBH I haven't noticed those tiles until you've pointed out that you've spotted them - I've assumed that the devs made the poles completely uninhabitable, and put all terrain deformations there.
@mbpoblet4 жыл бұрын
@@wojtek4p4 There should be _twelve_ of them, I think, not only the poles... these fullerene shapes are basically dodecahedrons with hexagons between the pentagons...
@wojtek4p44 жыл бұрын
@@mbpoblet I thought that it was a simple hexagonal grid, connected into a cylinder then simply squashed onto a sphere. But yeah, a dodecahedron or an icosahedron makes way more sense when it comes to limiting deformation. It probably is an icosahedron with faces made out of equilateral triangles, instead of being a dodecahedron (pentagonal faces with triangles would be iffy and the deformation would be more noticeable). It would mean that there are twelve pentagonal faces, however for a different reason.

So Anno - Interplanetary right? Seems similar to the Anno series with island fertilization, trade to keep colonies alive, resource production chains and so on. Not a bad thing, seems competent enough, but I feel that the islands just seem so small. It seemed like you really had to focus on placement of buildings and island specializations (Island 1 is agricultural, 2 is manufacturing, 3 is i dunno space?) which moves it from a strategy to a puzzler too much for my liking but it definitely could be cool to see how crazy things get by the end of the tech tree.

it always annoys me that fallout is still in the "shabby just after the apocalypse" stage... like 200 years after the catastrophe there is basically no real reason for them to not have rebuilt and progressed, I mean the united states of america is barely older than 200 so according to fallout logic america should still be pilgrims and cowboys at best. Glad to see this game hasn't gone for that sort of nonsense for purely aesthetic reasons

God damn it! This game looks lovely and I would love to play it. As soon as the first trade ship set sail I was instantly reminded of one of my favorite franchises. The Anno games. So naturally I went straight down to the description to put it on my wishlist to keep an eye on it for the next sale... EXEPT there is no wishlist I could put it on because this game is not on Steam but on fucking Epic Games! I am sick an tired of them grabbing games and making them exclusive on their half-assed platform! I am tired of Valve being so greedy with their outdated revenue cuts of 30 bloody percent that many developers are gladly changing ship to Epic Games, while they don't even give a damn because they are so confident with their market share. I am not a PC gamer to be forced to be part in a Exclusivity War of two platforms who each suck in their own way! Things were dumb enough with EA and Ubisoft and their fucked up idea of a platform but at least most of their games still kind of cooperated with Steam. Epic Games brings out ONE game the whole world looses their mind over and now I have to endure their fantasies of being relevant. God damn it.. I would have loved to play this game.. Get your shit together Steam.. You are not alone anymore.
