Great tip on the hornwart 😊👍

Good tips

I always pull the majority of it out when it starts to block my light. It usually gets to that point before it starts to fall apart anyway. I just leave a couple of newer healthy strands, and it always grows right back. Great plant for top cover and nutrient export.

Good in Tanganyikan tanks. I used it in my overcrowded Shubunkin goldfish tubs for nitrate export. I would harvest the rear sections, throw them in the worm pile and keep only the front 6-8". Most aquatic plants like potassium, potash, K2O5 so a little fert would not hurt

Aquatic plants absorb 90% of nutrients (ammonia, nitrates, etc) through their roots. Since hornwort essentially has no/minimal roots, it falls far short of floating plants like water lettuce and water sprite in purifying your aquarium water.

I love hornwort because it’s so easy to grow

Almost too easy🤣🤣🤣

Horn wart sheds like a long haired dog😮 and because I have a lot of surface agitation is why I don't use floating plants. But good point on attaching somewhere

Yup, this happened to me once and I’ll never get it again. Just not worth it. There are so many other plants out there.

Same. It was a nightmare for me. Now I keep a combo of water sprite, wisteria and brazilian pennyworth.

Great video Ben. Did the hornwart end up surviving your severums or did they eat it?
@BenOchart5 ай бұрын
I dropped a hornwort test piece in there and it was gone in 2 days, LOL!
@andytchir86015 ай бұрын
@BenOchart so I guess the rumor is true they eat all plants and even try to eat plastic plants haha

I don't know why, but it struggles in my tanks. I have also a bunch of different plants, and they are fine.🤔

Happened to me also. Hesatint to get more live plants after I got an invasion of snails. I am new live plants.

Some fish, like loaches, can help get rid of those snails.

Ben : do you have a video on setting up an Xpertmatic AF-2000 internal filter? No manual came with it. There is a website listed on the box but it says no longer available. I have not used a filter like that before and am concerned that I will have water spraying all over the place if I don't install it "by the book". Thanks!

HI BEN; FUNNY YOU MADE THIS VIDEO THIS WEEK. LAST WEEK I GOT RID OF ALL MY HORNWOORT... IT WAS MORE WORK THAN BENEFICIAL. I'LL STICK TO ARTIFICIAL PLANTS AND KEEP DOING MY WEEKLY WATER CHANGES TO KEEP MY AMMONIA DOWN. YOUR FRIEND DANNY LAS VEGAS

I wish I could grow plants😅
@twitteringothers5059Ай бұрын
Oh, do they melt in your water ? Vals do that in my tank. Now I keep mostly column feeders like wisteria and water sprite. I use liquid fertilizer and that's about it. Just find low-light and low-CO2 plants that work for you and you should end up with a beautiful planted tank😊

How about filter instead of sponges. Like a pro Marine filter.

I hate hornwort for that very reason.

Every time I bought horn wort it dropped its needles and died.
